    Beſchloſſen, daß gleich nach dem 1. Januar und ſpäteſtens bis
zum 31. Januar jeden Jahres genannte Jahresberichte der Präſides und
die Parochialberichte der Paſtoren, ſowie die Kataloge der Lehranſtalten
und dergl. an Herrn Prof. M. Günther, Concordia College, St. Louis,
Mo., eingeſendet werden ſollen, welch letzterer hiermit von der Synode be⸗
auftragt wird, die Zuſammenſtellung und Veröffentlichung dieſer Berichte
zu beſorgen, und zwar in Bezug auf die Parochialberichte in der Weiſe, daß
nach Schluß derſelben die Summe der Paſtoren, Lehrer, Schulen u. ſ. w.
eines jeden Diſtricts und der Allgemeinen Synode berichtet werden.
    Beſchloſſen, daß der alſo angefertigte und ſo ſchnell als möglich
gedruckte Bericht in derſelben Weiſe wie die Synodalberichte und ohne wei⸗
tere Unkoſten an alle Paſtoren und Lehrer unſerer Synode verſandt werde.

                „Doctoriren“ von ſeiten der Paſtoren.

    Beſchloſſen, daß wiewohl in einzelnen Fällen Noth und Liebe es
bei einem Paſtor rechtfertigen, ja, erfordern können, auch in leiblichen
Krankheiten mit Rath und That zu dienen, ſo ſei doch ein eigentliches ärzt⸗
liches Praktiziren desſelben durchaus nicht ſtatthaft, weil ein Paſtor durch
ſolche Praxis, zu welcher ihm jeglicher Befehl Gottes fehlt, eine große Ver⸗
antwortung unnöthigerweiſe auf ſich ladet, ſeine koſtbare Zeit vergeudet
und manchen Unannehmlichkeiten, Verdrießlichkeiten u. ſ. w. kaum wird
aus dem Wege gehen können, endlich aber auch der weltlichen Obrigkeit, die
das verbietet, ungehorſam wird.

                        „Synodal⸗Handbuch.“

    Beſchloſſen, daß eine Committee, beſtehend aus den Profeſſoren
Selle und Günther und Präſes Schmidt, eine 3te Auflage des Synodal⸗
Handbuches, die in kurzer Zeit nöthig werden wird, vorbereite, Beſchlüſſe,
die von keiner allgemeinen Geltung weder für die Delegaten- noch Diſtricts⸗
ſynoden mehr ſind, ausmuſtere und die ſeit der 2ten Auflage des Synodal⸗
Handbuchs gefaßten Beſchlüſſe gehörigen Ortes einfüge.
    Beſchloſſen, daß das von genannter Committee angefertigte Ma⸗
nuſcript der St. Louiſer Paſtoralconferenz zur ſchließlichen Begutachtung
übergeben werde.
    Beſchloſſen, daß mit der ſchließlichen Redaction und Beſorgung
des Druckes genannten „Synodal⸗Handbuches“ Herr Prof. Günther beauf⸗
tragt werde.

82   Proceedings of the 19th General [Synod], or

    Resolved, that immediately after January 1 and no later than
January 31 of each year, the aforementioned annual reports of the
district presidents and the parish reports of the pastors, as well as the
catalogs of the educational institutions and the like, are to be sent to
Prof. M. Günther, Concordia College, St. Louis, Mo., who is hereby
charged by the Synod with compiling and publishing these reports —
specifically, with respect to the parish reports, in such a way that after
their conclusion the totals of pastors, teachers, schools, etc., of each
district and of the General Synod are reported.
    Resolved, that the report thus prepared and printed as quickly as
possible be sent, in the same manner as the synodical reports and
without further cost, to all pastors and teachers of our Synod.

                "Doctoring" by Pastors.

    Resolved, that although in individual cases need and love may
justify, indeed require, a pastor to serve also in bodily illnesses with
counsel and action, an actual medical practice on his part is by no
means permissible, because through such a practice — for which he has
no command of God whatever — a pastor needlessly loads a great
responsibility upon himself, wastes his precious time, will hardly be
able to avoid a good many inconveniences, vexations, and so forth, and
finally also becomes disobedient to the civil authorities, who forbid it.

                        The "Synodical Handbook."

    Resolved, that a committee, consisting of Professors Selle and
Günther and President Schmidt, prepare a 3rd edition of the Synodical
Handbook, which will be needed before long; that it remove resolutions
no longer of any general validity for either the Delegate or the District
Synods; and that it insert, in their proper places, the resolutions passed
since the 2nd edition of the Synodical Handbook.
    Resolved, that the manuscript prepared by the said committee be
submitted to the St. Louis Pastoral Conference for final review.
    Resolved, that Prof. Günther be charged with the final editing and
arranging of the printing of the said "Synodical Handbook."
