Vierten Delegatenſynode von Miſſouri, Ohio u. a. St. 1884. 47

Fourth Delegate Synod of Missouri, Ohio, and Other States. 1884. 47

classrooms could be turned into sitting-rooms. Of course no room would then still have been provided for meals, so that for the time being we would have to make do with setting the table twice for every meal.

"Besides this the Synod would have two more teachers' dwellings to build, namely for the 6th professor, who still lives in the institution, and for the 7th professor. . . Were the 6th professor not to move out of the institution, the shortage of sitting-rooms would still remain." (From the report of the Board of Control.)

Resolved, that a second seminary building be erected at Addison.

Resolved, that this building be put up according to a plan drawn up by the Board of Control at Addison.

Resolved, that two more professors' dwellings be built at Addison.

Resolved, that for the erection of the main building the sum of $21,000 — excluding the cost of interior furnishing — and for the building of the two teachers' dwellings the sum of $5000, altogether $26,000, be granted.

Resolved, that the Board of Control itself — with the addition of some members from outside — form the building committee.

Laying a plank road from the seminary to the church was found to be neither necessary nor readily feasible. "It would, however, be desirable if such a plank road existed from the seminary to the bridge over Salt Creek, since this is the actually impassable spot. But there already exists a way out from the seminary to the end of the village of Addison. There would thus remain only a length of 1100 feet, the laying of which would cost the Synod about $500." (From the report of the Board of Control.)

Resolved, that on a stretch of road between the seminary and the church to be determined by the Board of Control a plank road be laid, and that the sum of $500 be granted for it.

"Both the Faculty and the Board of Control would advise against setting up a laundry facility at Addison. This is, for one thing, too costly, and for another, not at all desirable. Over 100 pupils have washerwomen in and around Addison, and thereby keep up contact with the congregations and keep interest in the institution alive. Of the remaining pupils, a good number are well able to pay for their laundry, and for the poorer ones we have established a fund out of which the costs are met. Since there are, now, poor families in Addison who are glad to take in such laundry, this matter is adequately provided for. The only thing lacking is money in the so-called laundry fund. If the congregations in the Synod would contribute something to this annually, the pupils would be helped and the
