I. Unſer Verhältnis zur Ehrw. Evangeliſch⸗Lutheriſchen
Norwegiſchen Synode.

62 Proceedings of the twenty-sixth convention

have been taught, whether by word or by epistle of ours!" (2 Thess. 2:13-15.)

We shall soon begin the celebration of the Jubilee Year of the Reformation. May God grant that this year and its celebration give us new courage and zeal for the earnest, upright struggle against the chief enemy of our Church, that we hold what we have, what God has given us through the Reformation, and impart these rich blessings to others also. In this way we want to bring our thanks to the Lord. May God grant that the saying be fulfilled in us which is ascribed to our Luther: "Deus vos impleat odio papae!" [May God fill you with hatred of the pope!]

Every thesis was discussed very thoroughly by the convention, and thereupon the exposition of the Reverend Essayist was adopted.

To the Reverend Essayist the convention's thanks were voted for his labor. He was requested to hand over his work in full, including the unread supporting passages and quotations, for printing in the report of the Synodical Conference.

Business Proceedings.

I. Our Relationship to the Honorable Evangelical Lutheran Norwegian Synod.

1. The committee that was appointed two years ago to act in this matter presented the following report:

Committee Report.

At its convention at Milwaukee in the year 1914 the Honorable Synodical Conference (*Synodalkonferenz*) considerably enlarged the authority of its committee, which was appointed in the year 1912 at the convention in Saginaw to discuss with the Norwegian Synod offensive points in the "Madison Theses" ("Opgjör") adopted by the Norwegian Synod. In particular the Honorable Synodical Conference determined that the committee appointed by it might, instead of dealing with the Norwegian Synod, also deal with a committee appointed by the Church Council of the Norwegian Synod. (See Proceedings of the Synodical Conf. 1914, p. 43 f.)

The resolutions of the Honorable Synodical Conference were communicated to the President of the Norwegian Synod, Rev. Dr. Stub, immediately after the close of the convention on August 18, 1914. He replied on September 11, 1914, that he had just returned from a trip to Norway, that because of a severe attack of neuritis he was under medical treatment
