Juni:
“THE UNITED CHURCH AND THE HAUGE SYNOD VOTE FOR UNION.
“At its annual session in Fargo the United Norwegian Lutheran
Church of America voted unanimously to adopt four resolutions to
consummate the church union with the Norwegian Synod and the
Hauge Synod. The number of voting members were in the morning
reported to be 1,028. Many of these were present twenty-six years
ago, and organized the United Church in Minneapolis in 1890.
“On the same day the union question was voted on by the
Hauge Synod, assembled in annual convention at Red Wing, Minn.
The result of the vote, according to press reports, was as follows:
“Unconditionally for union, 142; conditionally for union, 32:
unconditionally against union, 57; conditionally against union, 14:
neutral, 26.
“This means that next year the three church-bodies will meet
and organize the Norwegian Lutheran Church of America. Let us
thank God for His blessings, and pray for His guidance in the days
to come, that this union may be to His glory and to the growth of His
kingdom among us.”

abzuhalten.

78 Proceedings of the twenty-sixth convention
on the outcome of the negotiations on the union in the United Church and in the Hauge Synod the following report appeared in the Lutheran Herald of June 22: [Printed in English.]
"THE UNITED CHURCH AND THE HAUGE SYNOD VOTE FOR UNION.
"At its annual session in Fargo the United Norwegian Lutheran Church of America voted unanimously to adopt four resolutions to consummate the church union with the Norwegian Synod and the Hauge Synod. The number of voting members were in the morning reported to be 1,028. Many of these were present twenty-six years ago, and organized the United Church in Minneapolis in 1890.
"On the same day the union question was voted on by the Hauge Synod, assembled in annual convention at Red Wing, Minn. The result of the vote, according to press reports, was as follows:
"Unconditionally for union, 142; conditionally for union, 32: unconditionally against union, 57; conditionally against union, 14: neutral, 26.
"This means that next year the three church-bodies will meet and organize the Norwegian Lutheran Church of America. Let us thank God for His blessings, and pray for His guidance in the days to come, that this union may be to His glory and to the growth of His kingdom among us."
In bringing these facts to the knowledge of the Honorable Synodical Conference (*Synodalkonferenz*), your committee regards the commission given to it as discharged, as well as could be done under the circumstances set forth, and considers itself dismissed.

Theo. Schlüter.

2. This report was handed to a committee which was to submit to the convention suitable proposals and resolutions. The following is the report which was presented and, as read, adopted:
Your committee, after examining the report presented to the Honorable Synodical Conference on the state of affairs in the Norwegian Church, has become convinced that it is in the interest of true unity in the Lutheran Church if the doctrinal conference planned by the Synodical Conference with representatives of the Norwegian Synod is not dropped yet.
We advise the Honorable Synodical Conference to adopt the following as a resolution:
1. We express our hearty regret that, in consequence of a death and serious illness, the Norwegian committee was put out of position to hold the conference planned with our representatives.
