Zu 9: a.

Bemühungen in dieſer Sache.

Synodalkonferenz

of the Ev. Luth. Synodical Conference of North America. 1916. 105

which have flowed in during the last two years for the erection of chapels, and heartily encourage our Christians to present their gifts in the following years also especially for the mission buildings, since such are absolutely necessary for the prosperity of the mission.

The missionaries present may be heard, as far as time permits.

On 9: a. We hold that lectures by our mission workers at suitable places and on fitting occasions are very recommendable, and that this way of making our congregations acquainted with the work of the Negro Mission ought to be employed more and more.

b. We express our satisfaction that the lantern slides have been prepared, and thank Rev. Jesse for his efforts in this matter.

c. We recommend that the circulation of the *Missionstaube* ["Mission Dove"] and of the *Pioneer* be taken well to heart, and that the *Missionstaube* appear in smaller print, namely the receipts in 6-point and the other reading matter in 9-point. Concerning the *Pioneer*, we believe that with the present extent of the mission it is impossible for the paper to fulfil still now the purpose of doing pioneer work among the churchless. We recommend to the commission to turn its attention once especially to this paper and to ask itself whether it would not be more profitable for the mission to enlarge it.

d. We recommend that the matter of taking over the little paper of the China Mission be laid on the table until the convention has decided whether it wishes to take over the China Mission.

On 11: We recommend that at this year's new election of the commission one half of the members be elected for two years, the other for four years, so that in future perhaps always only one half of the commission's members retire from office.

Respectfully submitted to the Honorable Synodical Conference,
with all esteem,
Your Committee:
H. Frincke.
A. Siegmann.
H. Beinke.
F. J. Lankenau.
W. Bodamer.
R. Schroth, Secretary.
Albert Gerson.

Further Deliberations and Resolutions.

1. The inquiry of the United Synod of the South mentioned in section 10 of the printed report was dealt with thoroughly, and thereupon it was resolved, "that this matter for the next
