Zweite Sitzung.
Donnerstag⸗Vormittag, den 5. Oktober.
Ehrw. Synode von Minneſota u. a. St.
Da die Ehrw. Synode von Minneſota u. a.
Fleiſch, ihrer Seligkeit gewiß ſein können und ſollen;
keine weitere Synodal- eventuell Kirchengemeinſchaft pflegen wolle;
da aber Herr Prof. F. A. Schmidt trotz aller Belehrung, Er⸗
Die Delegaten der Ehrw. evang.⸗luth. Synode von Minneſota u. a. St.
M. Tirmenſtein.

Schließlich verlas Herr Paſtor R. Adelberg den Proteſt der
Ehrw. Synode von Wisconſin u. a. St.

Second Session.
Thursday forenoon, 5 October.
Pastor M. Tirmenstein now read the following protest of the
Venerable Synod of Minnesota and Other States.
Whereas the Venerable Synod of Minnesota and Other States has resolved at its convention this year at La Crosse, Wis.,
1. to understand the 11th article of the Formula of Concord to mean that it by no means deals with an election of grace in the wider sense, but with an election in the proper sense of the word, which, being grounded on the universal decree of grace, is a cause of faith and thus of the sonship of those over whom it has gone forth from eternity, and with which God has so taken into His hand the perseverance in faith and thus also the salvation of His elect that they, despite devil, world and flesh, can and should be certain of their salvation;
2. that it will maintain no further synodical or, as the case may be, church fellowship with persons and church bodies who revile such an understanding of the 11th article of the Formula of Concord, held by us and others, as false doctrine, so long as they do not honestly retract;
and whereas Prof. F. A. Schmidt, despite all instruction, admonition and rebuke, has publicly attacked and reviled the said doctrine as false, and has also stood by those who rejected this doctrine and on account of it left orthodox synods:
we therefore see ourselves compelled to protest against the acceptance of Prof. F. A. Schmidt as a delegate to the Venerable Synodical Conference, so long as he has not publicly and honestly retracted and acknowledged his wrong. —
The delegates of the Venerable Evang. Luth. Synod of Minnesota and Other States:
M. Tirmenstein.
A. Paar.
Finally Pastor R. Adelberg read the protest of the
Venerable Synod of Wisconsin and Other States,
as follows:
Whereas Prof. F. A. Schmidt not only has granted to Pastor Klindworth, who has left us because of the existing difference in the doctrine of election, his paper "Altes und Neues" for the reviling of our Synod; but also, despite the previous and to him in writing
