der ev.⸗luth. Synodal⸗Conferenz von Nord⸗Amerika. 1884. 97
dargelegt.

Hochachtungsvoll zeichnet
Ihr Committee:
J. P. Beyer.
J. H. Sieker.

VII. Eingabe der Ehrw. Minneſota⸗Synode betreffend die Heraus⸗
gabe einer einheitlichen Agende innerhalb der Synodalconferenz.

Der Hochwürdige Herr Präſes der Synode von Minneſota u. a. St.

of the Ev. Luth. Synodical Conference of North America. 1884. 97

set forth. Both reports testify to a diligent zeal of this Venerable Synod in the treatment of the wholesome doctrine and contain nothing that would conflict with it.

Respectfully signed,
Your Committee:
J. P. Beyer.
J. H. Sieker.

VII. Petition of the Venerable Minnesota Synod Concerning the Publication of a Uniform Agenda within the Synodical Conference.

The Right Reverend President of the Synod of Minnesota and Other States had, on behalf of his synod, submitted the request that the Synodical Conference seek to work toward the introduction of a uniform *Agende* [service book] in all synods of the Synodical Conference. He spoke in favour of the Agende of the Missouri Synod, if various things still lacking in it could be added. Among the things lacking belongs, for example, a form for the dedication of a church, the laying of a cornerstone, the installation of schoolteachers and elders, etc.

The Synodical Conference recognized the importance of a uniform Agende. If it could come to pass that in all congregations of the Synodical Conference there were one and the same order of service, then all our members moving from one congregation to another would feel at home at once in the new congregation, whereas with an essentially different order of service they feel in the new congregation as in a strange land. Yet one should not on that account try to introduce another Agende hastily and by storm, nor make a matter of conscience for any person in such things and put the congregation at stake over it.

As to the requested forms lacking in the Missouri Agende, however, since they are once wanted in our time, it was resolved that this matter be handed to a committee, which should lay such forms before the next Synodical Conference as a trial. If these are then approved, they could afterwards be submitted to the individual synods for review and final adoption. To this committee were elected:

from the Concordia Synod, President Brand,
from the Minnesota Synod, Pastor O. Hoyer,
from the Missouri Synod, a member of the faculty in St. Louis,
from the Wisconsin Synod, a member of the faculty in Milwaukee.

The persons concerned are to be appointed by the two faculties themselves.
