in zuſammengehen ſollten.

2. Wahlmodus.

1. Auch dieſe ſollen in ihrer Ordnung an der Delegaten⸗Synode ſich be⸗
theiligen.

habe, um Raum für einen Schlafſaal der Studenten zu machen;

ſie ein neues Stockwerk geſetzt;

ſo unentbehrliche gute Waſſer für die Anſtalt in genügender Menge liefert;

...not fewer than two, and not more than seven congregations at most,
should combine in this way.

2. Method of election. The election of such a deputy and pastor shall
take place in such a way that they are appointed, by the congregational
deputies and voting pastors sent for this purpose, at the respective
district synod immediately preceding the Delegate Synod, for the group of
congregations concerned that wish to combine. Should a congregation have
sent no deputy and been excused for that reason, it is in that case free
to commission someone in writing to join in electing the deputy for the
Delegate Synod.

3. All professors of the Synod, as well as the General President and the
district presidents, shall be required to attend the Delegate Synod.

B. Concerning advisory members of the Synod:

1. These, too, shall take part in the Delegate Synod according to their
own order. Namely, one out of every seven advisory pastors and one out of
every seven schoolteachers shall always be elected as advisory members
for it.

2. Their election shall take place at the district synod immediately
preceding the Delegate Synod, and the advisory pastors and teachers shall
have the right to elect their representatives themselves, from their own
number, at that synod.

The Concordia Seminary at St. Louis.

The preparatory committee reported as follows regarding the report
submitted by the Concordia Seminary's board of oversight:

The board of oversight of the Concordia Seminary here had sent in its
report, from which it appears

1. that it had put a second story on the printing-house building, to
make room for a dormitory for the students;

2. that it had put a new story on both wings of the Concordia Seminary
building;

3. that it had dug a well, which at last supplies the institution with a
sufficient quantity of the long-needed and yet so indispensable good
water;

4. that it had bought a lot, on part of which the residence for Professor
Walther had been built.

All of this is approved by the committee as urgently required by the
number of students and the welfare of the institution. The whole Synod
likewise gave its consent to what had been done.

The board of oversight puts before the Synod for consideration whether it
would not be advisable to appoint another professor in place of Dr.
Preuß, since the dear professors are already overburdened with work and
an increase in their number must be expected with every semester. The
preparatory committee...
