a) Hrn. Paſtor Brunn einen Gehilfen auf ihre Koſten zu ſtellen;
b) Hrn. stud. Eikmeier vorläufig auf ein Jahr nach Steeden zu ſenden;
c) Hrn.
len würden, ſich ſonſt kein Ende abſehen ließe in Nachlaß⸗Bewilligungen.

...seize this opportunity as one offered by God. The Synod resolved:
a) to provide Pastor Brunn an assistant at its own expense;
b) to send stud. Eikmeier to Steeden provisionally for one year;
c) to grant Pastor Brunn $200 for his assistant's board, and $200 to the
assistant himself.
It was recalled in this connection that the dear congregations of our
synodical union should remember this institution of ours in Germany at
their mission festivals and support it vigorously with collections. Gifts
are to be sent directly to the district treasurers, whose addresses,
following a resolution passed on this occasion, are to be given precisely
in both the synodical reports and the calendar.
The Synod also resolved unanimously to extend its heartfelt thanks to
dear Brother Brunn for his faithful service and interest in our Synod,
and also to make known to him our great joy at his kind letter and the
greeting expressed in it for our jubilee celebration, while also
expressing our regret that we could not have him among us and see him
face to face. Prof. Brauer has been charged with drafting this letter. —
Report of the Committee on Printed Matter. — Report on the synodical
printing house, etc.
The report of the Committee on Printed Matter first drew attention to the
fact that many requests had come in for the forgiveness of old debts. The
committee believes it cannot grant these, however, because, even though
individual cases might well deserve consideration, there would otherwise
be no foreseeable end to debt-forgiveness grants. The Synod concurred with
this decision, but made an exception in the particular case of Mr. L.
Brauns of Chicago, who in the great fire had lost not only all his
personal property but also a considerable stock of synodical books —
partly on the grounds that he had held many items only on consignment,
and partly out of regard for the great loss Mr. Brauns had otherwise
suffered. —
The auditors of the Printing Committee's report state that they found all
the books of the Printing Committee and of the agent to be in order. A
report of the agent on the overall financial condition of the book agency,
read aloud in the synodical assembly, will be appended to this report as
an appendix. In particular, the Synod approved what was communicated,
following the committee's report, regarding the appointment and salary of
an assistant to the general agent.
The Synod concurred with the preparatory committee's motion that the
bindings supplied by our bookbinder still leave much to be desired as
regards sturdiness and durability. It was therefore...
