der ev.⸗luth. Synodal⸗Conferenz von Nord⸗Amerika. 1886. 85
VI. Kaſſenbericht des Kaſſirers der Synodalconferenz
vom Jahre 1884—1886.
Herr H. A. Chriſtianſen, Kaſſirer der Synodalconferenz, berichtete,

comes from the fact that an agent, in order to attract people to himself, in one or
two cases lets a few dollars of his earnings go, which he then
cuts out again from others. If P. Keyl knew of such
an agent and reported him to the steamship company, the company would
soon put a stop to that agent's trade. In addition, it is
unfair to let P. Keyl afterward do the whole work, while
the agent pockets the money. For more work than selling the
steamship ticket the agents do not make for themselves. Everything else is
then to be seen to by P. Keyl. Therefore let one help this
cause wherever at all possible, and not forget that through our Pilgrims' House the building of the
Kingdom of God is mightily furthered. It is a mission matter among
the immigrants. To our congregations in the West and Northwest
P. Keyl directs the immigrants. So many a small congregation
is strengthened by new members. And P. Keyl by no means directs the immigrants
only to the Missouri congregations, but also to the congregations
of the Wisconsin and Minnesota synods.
VI. Treasurer's Report of the Treasurer of the Synodical Conference [Synodalconferenz]
for the years 1884-1886.
Mr. H. A. Christiansen, treasurer of the Synodical Conference, reported
that in the last two years he had had no receipts and no expenditures,
and therefore the same cash balance of $1.14 was still on hand.
VII. Examination of the Synodical Reports of the Synods belonging
to the Synodical Conference.
1. Report on the synodical reports of the Reverend Minnesota Synod of
1884 and 1885.
The undersigned committee has, in accordance with the commission received, gone through and
examined the reports of the Reverend Minnesota Synod of 1884 and 1885. Both reports contain doctrinal discussions on the means of
grace: Theses II to IV on their validity and power, as well as on the
dignity and on the blessed use. Thesis V shows that it is man's own fault
if he does not become partaker of the goods offered in the means of grace; yet man too could, out of his own
