wieder gewonnen in Folge deſſen, was ſie in der chriſtlichen Schule ge⸗
lernt haben.

6. Beſchloſſen, daß ſämmtliche Glieder der Negermiſſions⸗Commiſſion
für die nächſten zwei Jahre wiedererwählt ſeien.

78 Proceedings of the eleventh convention

apply for admission over a hundred children, yes, some, in order only to be admitted,
offer to pay tuition, but because of lack of
room have to be turned away. This we cannot and may not
look upon any longer. We must open the doors and create room.
Let it not be said that it is useless, since these Negro children later
would be lost again. If this were to keep us from building schools for the black
children, then the same would apply to our white children. Many of them
also go over to the world. But how very many are also later
won back again by virtue of what they learned
in the Christian school.

3. Resolved, that Director Burgdorf write a special article
in which report is made only on the mission among the Negroes of New
Orleans and at the same time strong support is asked for the necessary
extension of the mission. This article is intended for the
"Lutheraner" [The Lutheran], the "Gemeindeblatt," and the "Synodal-Boten."

4. The Conference declared itself also in favor of the Commission's reporting more
often on the state of the Negro Mission not only in the "Miſſions⸗Taube" but, for the sake of the larger
circle of readers, also in the principal church organs of our Synodical
Conference. Also the appeal for resolved buildings should
be made through the synodical papers as well.

5. The Conference recommends, as the "Miſſions⸗Taube," so also
especially the "Lutheran Pioneer," and hereby expresses the request that our
pastors take the circulation of this little paper to heart.
It is, particularly for our young people, who like to read something in English,
a suitable paper, since it brings nothing but small, pretty, edifying and
instructive articles.

In conclusion it was also recalled how important it is for the
mission that there be no frequent change of preachers and teachers.
The damage that such change brings is obvious at Little Rock.
There, humanly speaking, as great a success could have been achieved
as in New Orleans, had there not been change after change in the
service. How necessary it is, therefore, also that we diligently remember our
mission stations in prayer, that God may be pleased to give the
preachers and teachers, for their especially hard calling, right joyfulness
and steadfastness!

6. Resolved, that all members of the Negro Mission Commission
be re-elected for the next two years.
