that he had joined a congregation of the Missouri Synod on account of
the false doctrine of the Buffaloers, and afterward, when he wished to
return to the Buffalo Synod, claimed that he had always been
Buffalo-minded — thus proving himself an open hypocrite; — and
because he then, holding the congregation and the Word of God in
contempt, failed to appear before the former when summoned to the
final admonition under Matthew 18.

2. As to the question of what is to be done with those congregation
members who do not regard Mr. Hilger as under the ban, the conference
finds itself, for lack of knowledge of the congregation's condition,
unable to give a final ruling.

3. Regarding Mr. Hilger's wife, the conference can and will decide
nothing, since it knows absolutely nothing about her.

Concerning the paper on the relationship of congregations and pastors
to one another regarding the latter's support, it was resolved that
it be published as soon as possible in pamphlet form. The paper on
usury was read aloud and recommended for publication in "Lehre und
Wehre" [Doctrine and Defense]. Finally, a paper by Dr. Sihler was
heard, on how the doctrine of justification is rightly to be
preached. For lack of time it could not be discussed further and was
likewise recommended for publication in "Lehre und Wehre."

Election of the Officers and Standing Committees of the General
Synod. — Place and Time of the Next General
Synod Assembly.

For lack of time the elections were carried out by acclamation, with
the exception of the election of the "General Agent for Printed
Matter," which was done by ballot. The result was as follows:

I. General Officers:
Pastor F. Wyneken, President; Pastor Th. J. Brohm, Vice President;
Pastor J. A. F. W. Müller, Secretary; Mr. F. Böhlau, Treasurer.

II. Standing Committees:
1. as correspondent with foreign countries: Prof. C. F. W. Walther;
2. as chronicler: Pastor O. Fürbringer;
3. as members of the board of oversight: a. for the institution at
St. Louis: Pastor J. F. Bünger and Mr. A. Heinicke; b. for the
institution at Fort Wayne: Pastor F. W. Husmann and Mr. Ch.
Piepenbrink;
4. as members of the electoral college: the four members of the
boards of oversight, the four pastors still serving on it, and, in
place of Pastor Hoyer, Pastor H. Fick;
5. as mission commission: Pastor F. Sievers, chairman; Pastor W.
Günther, secretary; Mr. F. Böhlau, treasurer;
6. as general agent for the distribution of printed matter: Mr. M. C.
Barthel;
