antworten.

Günther an ſeiner Statt ernannt.

Aufnahme neuer Mitglieder.

...congregations, excuse letters had come in regarding the non-sending of
delegates, among them one from the congregation at Buffalo, which, on
account of its particular content, was set aside for thorough discussion
by the assembled Synod. Those who had asked to be excused (pastors,
teachers, and congregations) were, with the exception of the Buffalo
congregation, all excused; yet the Synod could not help expressing, with
regard to such congregations from which neither the pastor nor a
delegate had appeared, the heartfelt wish that in future every synodical
congregation would at least send one representative, especially to the
General Synod. As for the congregation at Buffalo, it was resolved in a
later session that Pastor Keyl, as the Präses [president] in whose
district it is located, be charged with answering its letter of excuse
appropriately.

Before proceeding to the report on the Synod's further proceedings, it
should still be noted that the outgoing General Secretary, Pastor
Husmann, urgently asked the Synod, in its fourth session, to release him
from his office, since on account of the weakness of his eyes and other
circumstances he was no longer able to keep minutes as exactly and
precisely as he had formerly been able to do — a request which the Synod
then also granted him. Pastor Müller was appointed secretary pro
tempore in his place, and it was resolved at the same time to observe
the practice, in the deliberations, that doctrinal matters be taken up
in the morning sessions and practical matters in the afternoon sessions,
and further to give the secretary an assistant to keep the minutes in
the afternoon sessions. Pastor Fricke was first elected assistant
secretary, but since he firmly declined the office, Pastor Günther was
appointed in his place.

Reception of New Members.

In order to carry out the reception of new members, the district
synods were given the afternoon of October 11 to hold separate
sessions; in these there were received:

1. By the Western District Synod: C. J. D. Hanser, pastor at
Carondelet, Mo., in an advisory capacity; G. M. Zucker, pastor at
Champaign City, Ill., in an advisory capacity; F. Schaller, pastor at
Red Bud, Ill., in an advisory capacity; J. M. M. Moll, pastor at New
Gehlenbeck, Ill., with voting rights; H. Wunderlich, pastor at Town
Worth, Ill., in an advisory capacity; H. F. Früchtenicht, assistant
preacher at Chicago, Ill., in an advisory capacity; E. D. K. Böse,
pastor at St. Louis, Mo., in an advisory capacity; F. Döscher, pastor
at Iowa City, Iowa, in an advisory capacity; J. Schwensen, pastor at
Neu Bielefeld, Mo., with voting rights; Ch. Popp, of Quincy, Ill.
(currently without a charge), in an advisory capacity; A. Pietschmann,
teacher at Grand Prairie, Ill.; B. Kohlstock, teacher in St. Louis Co.,
Mo.; F. Härtel, teacher at St. Charles, Mo.; C. Nagel, teacher at
Pleasant Ridge, Ill.; G. Th. Zacharias, teacher at Altenburg, Mo.; G.

[St. Petri-Gemeinde] of Pastor Richmann at Schaumburg, Ill.; the
