84 Constitution and Agreements of the Synodical Conference.

Each synod of the Synodical Conference [*Synodalkonferenz*] shall see to it that a report of its annual proceedings is sent in good time to the President of the Conference, and he has to see to it that for the next session of the Conference a written report on the subjects dealt with in the individual synods is available for it, which report is also at the same time to call attention to anything possibly questionable. (S.-C. V, 54.)

When the Secretary of the Synodical Conference notifies the committees for the examination of the synodical reports of their task, it shall also at the same time be his task to see to it that the reports are delivered to them. (S.-C. XII, 57.)

The book agents of the individual synods of the Synodical Conference shall be requested, for the purpose of examining the reports of the respective synods, to send one copy of each to the committees appointed for it by the President. (S.-C. XIII, 47.)

In the public announcement of the assemblies the subjects of the doctrinal discussions at hand each time shall also be stated. (S.-C. IV, 31.)

The standing rules of the Synodical Conference shall be printed each time on the inside of the cover of the reports of the Synodical Conference. (S.-C. XV, 79.)

To every official report on the proceedings of the Synodical Conference a statistical appendix shall be added on the synods belonging to the Synodical Conference, their congregations, schools, institutions, pastors, etc. (S.-C. XIII, 34.)

Both the number of reports to be printed and the payment for them shall be calculated according to the proportion of the number of delegates of the individual synods. (S.-C. II, 30.)

The Treasurer shall enter all accounts of the Conference in a book. (S.-C. III, 53.)

It is the wish of the Conference that the president of each individual synod, both as regards the Joint Synods [*Allgemeine Synoden*] and their districts, send the reports of the same to the presidents of the other synods, so that all may learn what goes on and is dealt with in the synods. (S.-C. V, 54.)

The archive of the Synodical Conference shall be kept in a suitable receptacle in the library of Concordia University in St. Louis. (S.-C. III, 53.)

Some Guiding Principles Regarding the So-Called Opposition Congregations.

§ 1.

The Synodical Conference entreats and adjures all pastors and congregations concerned to consider well what an abomination before God and how offensive before the Church, yes, before the world it is that pastors and congregations who have already acknowledged one another as orthodox, or at least ought to acknowledge, still continue to bite and devour one another.

§ 2.

The Synodical Conference warns, first of all, most earnestly against premature attempts at union, which, as experience has amply taught, make evil worse; it advises, on the other hand, in such cases where a still
