3. Bethlehem⸗Station. (P. J. Koßmann.) In den ver⸗
floſſenen beiden Jahren iſt es in Bethlehem recht ſchön vorangegangen.

58 Proceedings of the twenty-first convention

a year and a half ago the station raised its monthly contribution from $25.00 to $35.00, and, God granting grace, it will probably be able to raise it once more by the beginning of next year. —

2. Mount Zion Station. (Pastor K. Kretzschmar.) Under God's blessing this station has done very well in the last two years. The congregation has grown gratifyingly both outwardly and inwardly, while school and Sunday school have almost outgrown us.

Through baptism and confirmation 32 souls were added within the said period; 12 have been taken from us by death, and 2 we have lost through apostasy. The number of souls is accordingly at present 213. From 88 communicants 106 have come, and from 16 voting members 20. Baptized were 10 adults and 11 children, confirmed 10 adults and 14 children; 5 marriages and 11 burials were performed.

All services were well attended. At the Sunday school services on Sunday mornings there were on the average 11 adults and 53 children, at the principal services on Sunday evenings 50 adults and 7 children, and at the weekday services 23 adults and 3 children present, among them always a gratifying number of strangers. Some members who formerly were seldom at the services now come regularly again. All let themselves be instructed, admonished and rebuked by God's Word.

In the school too one sees and feels God's blessing. The two teachers Vix and Meibohm have had their hands full caring spiritually and intellectually for the 200 and more children. The fruit shows itself, for example, in the 14 children who have been won for the congregation through the school, as well as in the good reputation which school and children have in the neighborhood.

The finances of the station also show progress. From the congregation $529.05 has come in; school and Sunday school together raised $689.61; total: $1218.66. That is $257.31 more than in the preceding two years. To the mission treasury $575.00 was remitted, while the current expenses of the station amounted to $288.64 and $86.35 was spent for the support of the needy. In the station's funds a surplus of $390.00 remains. Since in the course of the summer our buildings must be thoroughly repaired and painted, probably almost this whole last-mentioned sum will go. Yet we are glad that we need not draw on the general treasury. With the beginning of the coming school term the congregation intends to raise its monthly contribution; that would have happened earlier if we had not had to prepare for the large expenses mentioned.

3. Bethlehem Station. (Pastor J. Koßmann.) In the past two years things have gone quite nicely in Bethlehem.
