So

40 Proceedings of the twenty-first convention
"Finally, my brethren, be strong in the LORD, and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace. Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God."
It was resolved to acknowledge the presentation of the essayist [Referent] and to express to him the thanks of the Synodical Conference [Synodalkonferenz] for his labor.
Business Proceedings.
I. Admissions.
Two applications for admission lay before the Synodical Conference, one from the Ev. Luth. District Synod of Nebraska and other States, the other from the Slovak-Evangelical A. C. Synod of Pennsylvania [A. C. = Augsburg Confession].
1. Application of the District Synod of Nebraska and other States.
"The Ev. Luth. District Synod of Nebraska and other States, consisting of congregations and pastors who, since they belonged to the Ev. Luth. Synod of Wisconsin and other States, from which they were dismissed in peace, were already members of the Ev. Luth. Synodical Conference, request the same for admission as a synod into its union.
"On behalf of the Ev. Luth. District Synod of Nebraska and other States
"Theo. Bräuer, President.
"Hadar, Nebr., 1 July 1906. "C. W. Siegler, Secretary."
The committee to which this application had been submitted for evaluation presented the following report:
"Chicago, 18 August 1906.
"To the Honorable Ev. Luth. Synodical Conference of North America.
