zu empfehlen;

2. Aufnahmegeſuch der Slowakiſchen Synode.
„Ehrwürdige und hochverehrte Synodalkonferenz!
„Unſere Slowakiſch⸗Evangeliſche A. C.⸗Synode von Pennſylvania
hat in ihrer letzten Verſammlung in South Sharon, Pa., beſchloſſen,
daß wir uns der allgemeinen Ev.⸗Luth. Synodalkonferenz von Nord⸗
amerika anſchließen ſollen. Ich bitte daher, die Ehrw. und Hochw.
Synodalkonferenz wolle unſere Synode in ihre Mitte aufnehmen.
„Wir berufen uns dabei auf folgendes:
bole; b. die Ungeänderte Augsburgiſche Konfeſſion und deren Apologie;
c. die Schmalkaldiſchen Artikel; d. die beiden Katechismen Luthers;
e. die Konkordienformel.
ohne Vorbehalt, in rebus et phrasibus, was Inhalt und Ausdruck betrifft.

of the Ev. Luth. Synodical Conference of North America. 1906. 41
this application. The committee now permits itself to report the result of its deliberation to the Ev. Luth. Synodical Conference, recommending that the Ev. Luth. Synodical Conference receive the Ev. Luth. District Synod of Nebraska and other States into its union.
"With respect and reverence
"H. Sprengeler.
"C. J. Albrecht.
"A. Schrödel.
"C. J. T. Frincke.
"H. Wente."
In connection with this committee report it was resolved to recommend to the synods of the Synodical Conference the admission of the District Synod;
further resolved to enter in the minutes the following personal declaration of the committee members Sprengeler, Albrecht and Frincke: "We agreed to this committee report only because we have good confidence in the brethren of the District Synod of Nebraska that they will clear up and put in order the matter at hand."
Against this second resolution President [Präses] A. Schrödel and Dr. H. Wente entered their protest in the minutes.
2. Application of the Slovak Synod.
"Venerable and highly honored Synodical Conference!
"Our Slovak-Evangelical A. C. Synod of Pennsylvania has resolved in its last meeting in South Sharon, Pa., that we are to join the general Ev. Luth. Synodical Conference of North America. I therefore ask that the Honorable and Reverend Synodical Conference be pleased to receive our synod into its midst.
"We appeal herewith to the following:
"1. Our synod confesses the Holy Scripture as the Word of God revealed both as a whole and in its individual parts.
"2. Our synod accepts all the books of the Evangelical Lutheran Church as its own, namely: a. the three ecumenical symbols; b. the Unaltered Augsburg Confession and its Apology; c. the Smalcald Articles; d. the two Catechisms of Luther; e. the Formula of Concord.
"3. It accepts these symbolical books as the pure, unadulterated presentation and explanation of the divine Word, unconditionally and without reservation, in rebus et phrasibus, as regards content and expression.
"4. It wants to be guided especially by the words of Holy Scripture: 'Be diligent to keep the unity in the Spirit through the bond of peace,' Eph. 4:3–6, and will take pains to be at one also in life with the confessional writings.
