Intereſſen, ſondern das Heil des Ganzen zu wahren habe;
ſtützen;

and who, with judicious consideration of the prevailing circumstances, can submit to the hardships of it.
5.
Such servants of home mission should, for the sake of divine order and of joy in the work, have a regular call to a definite field of labor, which however obliges them to work from there according to the measure of their strength.
6.
The activity of the Synodical Conference [*Synodal⸗Conferenz*] in the field of home mission would have to extend to the raising of the necessary means, their expedient use, the supervision of the individual missions etc., through a commission elected for the purpose; wherein the urgent intercession of the whole Synodical Conference is presupposed. ("Pray ye the Lord of the harvest" etc., "that the Word of the Lord may have free course and be glorified," "that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly.")
7.
The working of the Synodical Conference in the service of home mission can and may not hinder the work of the individual synods in their district.
8.
The difficulties standing in the way of this common work (such as: To which individual synod shall the missionaries and the congregations gathered belong?) are overcome
a) through the one right insight that the Church has to safeguard not sectional interests but the welfare of the whole;
b) through precisely drawn-up principles, which show as clearly as possible how the work of the missionaries supervised by the Synodical Conference as such is to be shaped in the various states.
9.
The commission appointed to care for this work should either be so composed that it can hold frequent consultations without much difficulty; or perhaps one or several members from each synod should be elected for it, who should then choose from among themselves such executive committees, who would be entrusted with the special supervision of the individual mission territories.
More detailed provisions concerning the powers of this commission could be somewhat as follows:
1) It would have to support, with counsel and, if necessary, in fact, such resident pastors as are already working in a mission field;
