ein Feld bebaue und behaupte, was ihr ſelbſt unzugänglich geweſen wäre;
wiſſens ſelbſtverſtändlich nicht die Rede ſein könne;

cultivates and holds a field which would have been inaccessible to itself; for let us not forget it: The chief task of the Synodical Conference [*Synodal⸗Conferenz*] remains to save souls. — After it had further been resolved to put the seventh proposition before the sixth and, in place of the word "territory," to put: "In the field of home mission," all the propositions were adopted unanimously. Thereupon it was resolved that the Synodical Conference should make a beginning with this work, in God's name, first at a point lying outside the territories already taken in hand by any of the synods represented.
Decisive Authority of the Synodical Conference [*Entſcheidende Gewalt der Synodal⸗Conferenz*].
The Rev. Synod of Illinois had submitted an inquiry to the effect: to what does the decisive authority granted in § 4 of the constitution of the Synodical Conference relate? The presentation of an answer had been entrusted to a committee, which submitted the following report:
"To the question put by the Rev. Synod of Illinois, to what the 'decisive authority' granted in § 4 of the constitution of the Synodical Conference relates, the undersigned committee permits itself to propose the following answer:
1. That decisive authority in matters of doctrine and of conscience is naturally out of the question;
2. that in all other matters each individual synod is sufficiently secured by being able to refuse its consent to the conferring of such authority."
This proposal was adopted unanimously by the Synodical Conference and thus raised to be its answer.
Answer to the Accusations of the Iowa Synod against the Norwegian Synod [*Antwort auf die Beſchuldigungen der Iowa⸗Synode gegen die Norwegiſche Synode*].
On the motion of the Rev. Synod of Minnesota that the Synodical Conference should give an answer to the accusations of the Iowa Synod, respectively of Prof. Fritschel, against the Norwegian brethren, in order to reject such accusations, the presiding vice-president of the Conference appointed a committee for the purpose of a proposal to be made on this. When, however, the committee presented its report, the Synodical Conference, after brief discussion, agreed that its theses on justification, together with the recorded discussion, should count as the answer in question, which was unanimously resolved.
