    H. Speckhard.
    J. H. Weſtendorf.

2. On the synodical report of the Texas District of the Missouri Synod for the year 1912 the following committee report had come in:

The undersigned committee, at the commission of the Reverend Presidium, has conscientiously examined the report and has found nothing in it that would be contrary to the Word of God and the Confession of the Evangelical Lutheran Church. However, we hold that the following sentence: "The confession of the mouth alone can deceive, the works alone can deceive, both together bear unfailing witness to the existence of living faith, which in justification only takes, only receives, but in sanctification works and appears active" (p. 20, § 2, sentence 3) goes too far and is therefore untenable. Both together can be found in a hypocrite. — Subject of the doctrinal proceedings: "Sanctification a Necessary Consequence of Justification."
    H. Speckhard.
    J. H. Westendorf.
