(Vgl. Bericht I, S. 74.)

(Vgl. Be⸗
richt XIII, S. 47.)

IV. über Prüfung der Synodalberichte.

Synoden einſende, damit alle erfahren, was in den Synoden vorgeht
und verhandelt wird. (Vgl. Bericht V, S. 54.)

V. über Pflichten des Sekretärs.

(Vgl. Bericht I, S. 74.)

subject at least two months before the beginning of the sessions to the President. (Cf. Report I, p. 74.)

3. The subject for the doctrinal proceedings is to be published in the synodical organs of the synods at least four weeks before the meeting of the Synodical Conference. The theses are to be sent, printed, just as long beforehand to the individual delegates and their alternates, so that they can acquaint themselves somewhat with them beforehand. (Cf. Report XIII, p. 47.)

IV. On the Examination of the Synodical Reports.

1. At each convention of the Synodical Conference [Synodalkonferenz] the President is to appoint at once the committees which at the following convention are to report on the various synodical reports (of all synods, or respectively districts, connected with the Conference), so that they may be given time and opportunity for careful examination of them. (Cf. Report VIII, p. 45; V, p. 54.)

2. These examining committees should never forget to name the doctrinal subjects discussed in the synodical reports, and, secondly, that it would be better if it became the usage among us to pronounce no praise on the synodical reports; for what we alone want and ought to know is whether the doctrine set forth in the reports is correct and in accordance with the Word of God. — The committee report is also at the same time to call attention to anything possibly questionable. (Cf. Report X, p. 92; V, p. 54.)

3. It is the wish of the Conference that the president of each of the synods, both as regards the Joint Synods and their districts, send the reports of the same to the presidents of the other synods, so that all may learn what is going on and being dealt with in the synods. (Cf. Report V, p. 54.)

V. On the Duties of the Secretary.

1. The secretary is to notify the committees for the examination of the synodical reports of their task and at the same time to see to it that the reports are delivered to them. (Cf. Report XII, p. 57.)

2. The secretary is to take care of the printing of the minutes. The place for the printing of the report as well as the number to be printed is left to the secretary; but he is first to make inquiry how many copies of the previous year's report were sold in the synods concerned, and according to that, adding a few hundred copies, to determine the number of copies to be printed. (Cf. Report III, p. 53; II, p. 30.)

3. The synodical report is to be sent to the individual synods in proportion to the number of their members. (Cf. Report I, p. 74.)

4. The secretary is instructed to put in order the matter of any debts on the printing of the synodical reports, or respectively the
