Auguſt 1912 in Sagi⸗
naw, Mich., ſtattfand, waren zu unſerer großen Freude zwei Glieder
Ihrer Ehrw.
Synode

34 Proceedings of the twenty-fifth convention
of its attempts to carry out the resolutions and commissions of the Synodical Conference. The committee, however, refrained from submitting to the Synodical Conference any definite proposals as to the steps to be taken henceforth.
The following is the report:
"August 3, 1914.
"To the Reverend Synodical Conference, assembled at Milwaukee, Wis., from the 12th to the 17th of August 1914.
"Honored, dear Fathers and Brethren!
"At its last convention at Saginaw, Mich., the Reverend Synodical Conference resolved to address the following letter to the Reverend Ev. Luth. Norwegian Synod:
"'To the Reverend Synod of the Norwegian Ev. Luth. Church of America, in care of the Reverend President Dr. H. G. Stub at St. Paul, Minn.
"'Honored in the Lord, dear Fathers and Brethren!
"'It is just forty years ago that the Ev. Luth. Synodical Conference of North America was founded. Your Reverend Synod also took part in this founding and thereby entered into the most intimate bond of fellowship in faith with the other synods of the Synodical Conference. About ten years afterward your Reverend Synod, to be sure, dissolved the organic connection with the Synodical Conference, but not the relationship of brotherhood in faith. This has rather been continued and cherished in a proper manner and in the loveliest way by sending delegates to the Synodical Conference, by joint pastoral conferences, by pulpit and altar fellowship, and by participation in works of missions and of charity. At the last convention of the Synodical Conference, too, which took place from August 14 to 17, 1912, at Saginaw, Mich., two members of your Reverend Synod, the Professors President Dr. H. G. Stub and Dr. J. Ylvisaker, appeared as delegates, to our great joy, and gave expression to the existing relationship of brotherhood in faith. This relationship, the intimate bond that unites your Reverend Synod and the synods of the Synodical Conference despite the difference of nationality and language, moves us to address this letter to you, and as it proceeds from heartfelt brotherly love, so we ask you, dear Fathers and Brethren, to receive it in the same love.
"'The relationship of brotherhood in faith brings holy duties with it, also the duty of brotherly reminder and representation. For this we have the express biblical direction and the beautiful example of the early Christian congregations. Now the Synodical Conference has taken note of the movement toward union among the Norwegian synods of our country, in which your Reverend Synod also
