of the Ev. Luth. Synodical Conference of North America. 1914. 57
St. Peter's near Drys Schoolhouse, Cabarrus Co., is in the country, about 7 miles southeast of Concord and 6 miles from Mount Pleasant. To the station belong 58 souls (increase: 1), 16 communicant members (increase: 1), 4 voting members (decrease: 1). The summer school was attended in the years 1912 and 1913 by 45 children. The Methodists are strongly represented here.
Immanuel near Reimerstown, Cabarrus Co., six miles north of Mount Pleasant. Here the removal of members was still heavier than in the other two congregations of the Mount Pleasant parish. In addition there have been many deaths. 21 souls (increase: 4), 14 communicant members (increase: 2) and 5 voting members (increase: 1) remain faithful to Word and Sacrament. The services, held on Sunday evenings, are attended on average by 25 persons, and the communicant members go to the Holy Supper on average four times a year.
Gold Hill, Mount Zion. Missionary: Fred H. Foard. Gold Hill, a village in Rowan Co. about fifteen miles southeast of Salisbury, has lately been named repeatedly in the newspapers in connection with several federal senators and a gold mine. About 21 years ago our present Mission Director brought the far better gold of the pure doctrine to this Gold Hill. Now there are there 66 souls (1 more than two years ago), 24 communicants (3 fewer), 7 voting members (2 fewer) and 45 children in the Sunday school, who rejoice in the pure doctrine. The members of the congregation have given $205.84 of their earthly means for church purposes in the two years reported. The service on Sunday morning is attended on average by 35 persons, the weekday service by 14. — Besides Gold Hill, Pastor Foard serves three more places:
Mount Zion in Rocks, Rowan Co., eight miles east of Salisbury, numbers 65 souls (increase: 1), 28 communicants (decrease: 2), 9 voting members (decrease: 1). Missionary Foard preaches there every two weeks on Sunday morning to an average of 40 hearers. The Sunday school has 45 children on the roll. The summer school had 35 children. Contributions: $198.81.
Concordia in Rockwell, Rowan Co., a country station five miles northwest of Gold Hill, numbers 29 souls (decrease through death and removal: 10), 14 communicant members (decrease: 8), 7 voting members (decrease: 1), 20 Sunday-school pupils (decrease: 5). The average attendance at services is good: 25 on Sunday morning twice a month. Contributions: $113.82.
Albemarle in Stanly Co., sixteen miles southeast of Gold Hill. Pastor Foard opened a school there in October 1911 and on April 13, 1914, held school again with 34 children. A congregation has not yet been formed. Yet he preaches
