Fünften Delegatenſynode von Miſſouri, Ohio u. a. St. 1887. 55
rathung aufgenommen werde.

Fifth Delegate Synod of Missouri, Ohio, and Other States, 1887. 55
Resolved, that, occasioned by the motion that the Synod should
establish a uniform text for the various editions of our hymnal and of
the Small Catechism in all our publications, the Synod 1. declares: As
regards the uniform text of the hymnal, or its hymnological portion, such
a text has already been established in all editions that have appeared
since the revision of the hymnal; a difference exists only between these
and the older editions, and the latter will presumably soon be used up;
— and 2. orders that in all future editions of the Catechism, as it is
incorporated into the hymnal and the Agenda [liturgical service book]
(respectively the Apostles' Creed in the baptismal and confirmation
formulary), the text of the Catechism found in the new revised edition of
Dietrich's Catechism be set, since that edition contains the Catechism
text as revised according to the edition of the Book of Concord of 1580.
Resolved, that the Synod decline the motion that it, the Synod,
should order that a burial formulary, a formulary for the installation of
teachers and elders, for the laying of cornerstones, and for the
dedication of churches be added to the Agenda, and instead point all
those who feel a need for such and similar formularies to the fact that
these, and many others besides, have already been made public by
Pastor Lochner.
Resolved, that the matter of publishing a new, brief Catechism
alongside Dietrich's, such as has been desired by all the District Synods,
not be deliberated on for now, but be tabled on account of particular
circumstances that prevail at present.
Resolved, that the petition addressed to the Synod, that a Gospel
Postil [sermon collection on the Gospel pericopes] in large, coarse print
be published by our publishing house, be declined, since the difficulties
regarding the editing and production of such a work are too great.
Resolved, that the new series of our German readers be completed as
soon as possible.
Resolved, that the Cleveland Teachers' Conference be charged with
carrying out this resolution: the completion of the new series of our
German readers.
Resolved, that from New Year's on, the "Lutheraner" shall no longer
appear, as before, on the 1st and 15th of each month, but regularly
every 14 days, and, where possible, always be dispatched on a
Wednesday, so that all readers may have it in hand on the following
Sunday.
Resolved, that the motion concerning a special receipt sheet, as a
supplement to the "Lutheraner," which has already taken up so much
time fruitlessly in earlier sessions, not be taken up again for discussion.
