54 Verhandlungen der 20ſten Allgemeinen oder
rung der Bücher Abhülfe geſchafft werden kann. Man wolle doch bedenken,
April 1887 .............................$68338.06
Davon ab, was die Synode ſich ſelbſt ſchuldet:
Synodalkaſſe ....................................................$16365.90
Seminarbaukaſſe (Addiſon) ............................... 6160.58
————————$22526.48
————————
Reſt ...... $45811.58
Dagegen hat die Synode an guten Aſſets:
In Kaſſe am 1. April '87 .................................. $23263.12
St. Louis R. R. Co. Shares ................................ 5077.25
Forderung an die Denver Gemeinde .................... 4082.22
————————$32422.59
————————
Bleibt die wirkliche Schuld der Synode ............................................... $13388.99

54 Proceedings of the 20th General or
improvement, a remedy can be provided for the books. One should
indeed consider that every dollar which our congregation members
spend on books from another publishing house is taken away from our
publishing house, and thus from our Synod.
"Secondly, we would like to advocate an enlargement of the
Synodical Printing House. In order to be able to give the Synod a
definite estimate of the costs, we have had an offer made to us by a
competent contractor, by which he obligates himself to undertake the
necessary addition and the supply of two new boilers, for the sum of
$11,000.
"Thirdly, we likewise consider the early completion of the new series
of our German readers to be very desirable.
"As for the books and funds of the General Treasurer, we would
particularly like to state that here too we found everything in the best
order. We satisfied ourselves not only as to the correct keeping of the
books, but also as to the presence of the cash balance which the
cashbook showed.
"So that the Reverend Synod may get a clear overview of its financial
position, such as could not be obtained through the accounting
customary until now, we give the following summary, taken from the
Treasurer's ledger:
Debt of the Synod per the ledger on April 1, 1887 .............................$68338.06
Deduct what the Synod owes itself:
Synodical Treasury ..........................................$16365.90
Seminary Building Fund (Addison) ..................... 6160.58
————————$22526.48
————————
Remainder ...... $45811.58
Against this the Synod has in good assets:
Cash on hand April 1, '87 ................................ $23263.12
St. Louis R. R. Co. shares ................................. 5077.25
Claim against the Denver congregation ................ 4082.22
————————$32422.59
————————
Leaving the Synod's actual debt at ...................................................... $13388.99
(Report of the Audit Committee.)
Resolved, that the enlargement of the Synodical Printing House,
which has become altogether necessary, be approved in the manner
proposed by the Directorate and recommended by the Audit Committee.
Resolved, that the Synod express the earnest wish that in all schools
of the congregations belonging to it, no schoolbooks be used other than
those published by our Synod.
