der ev.⸗luth. Synodalconferenz von Nord⸗America. 1900. 53

Achtungsvoll
A. F. Ernſt, Vorſitzer.
H. Frincke, Secr.

1. daß die ganze Commiſſion für Negermiſſion wieder erwählt werde;

denſelben Händen bleiben ſoll;

herigen Committeegliedes, P. A. Krafft, trete.

a. Aus der Michigan⸗Synode: P. J. Klingmann, Ann Ar⸗
bor, Mich.

b. Aus der deutſchen Miſſouri⸗Synode:
Wisconſin⸗Diſtrict: P. B. Sievers, Milwaukee, Wis.
Michigan⸗Diſtrict: P. H. Speckhard, Saginaw, Mich.

of the Ev. Luth. Synodical Conference of North America. 1900. 53

With regard to the second point it was resolved that it is the sense of this Committee that the salary which is paid to our Negro missionaries is by no means too high.

Respectfully,
A. F. Ernst, Chairman.
H. Frincke, Secr.

By adopting the report the Synodical Conference [*Synodalconferenz*] made the proposals of the Committee its own resolutions. On point 1 it is further to be remarked: In the thorough and eager debate the reasons for the establishment of a seminary for Negroes were presented especially by Missionary Bakke. It turned out, however, that the Negro missionaries in Louisiana do not agree to the plan. Objections were raised from other sides also, whose weight counted the more in the scale as the debate showed that the whole matter was not yet ripe for decision. Therefore the Synodical Conference, by adopting the second and third points, postponed the decision to the year 1902.

Further it was resolved:

1. that the whole Commission for the Negro Mission be re-elected;

2. that the editorship of the "Missions-Taube" [Mission Dove] and of the "Pioneer" remain in the same hands;

3. that the non-resident members of the Negro Commission also be re-elected for two years, with the change that President [*Präses*] J. W. Weinbach of the Canada District of the Reverend Missouri Synod take the place of the former Committee member, Pastor A. Krafft.

The non-resident members of the Commission elected under this resolution are:

a. From the Michigan Synod: Pastor J. Klingmann, Ann Arbor, Mich.

b. From the German Missouri Synod:
Wisconsin District: Pastor B. Sievers, Milwaukee, Wis.
Michigan District: Pastor H. Speckhard, Saginaw, Mich.
Iowa District: Pastor E. Melcher, Waverly, Iowa.
Eastern District: Pastor F. Brand, Pittsburg, Pa.
Central District: Pastor J. Miller, Fort Wayne, Ind.
Illinois District: Pastor H. Engelbrecht, Chicago, Ill.
Minnesota and Dakota District: Pastor F. Sievers, Minneapolis, Minn.
Nebraska District: Pastor M. Adam, South Omaha, Nebr.
Kansas District: Pastor W. Lüssenhop, Independence, Kans.
California and Oregon District: Pastor J. Schröder, San Francisco, Cal.
