(100) feet to beginning corner, the same two lots conveyed, along
with others, by Geo. M. Hope to said J. W. Smith by deed dated De-
cember 8, 1910, and recorded in Book 297, page 332, office of Clerk
of Superior Court, Fulton County.
On motion of Rev. H. Daib, which was seconded by Rev. O.
Kaiser, this resolution was adopted.
Africa Missions.
WHEREAS, The opening of a mission in Africa is connected with
many difficulties and great expense; and
WHEREAS, So many situations call for careful consideration and
investigation; and
WHEREAS, Finally, your Committee is unable to point out clearly
ways and means of initiating and carrying on such a missionary
enterprise at this time; therefore be it
Resolved to submit this matter of a mission in Africa to the
various synods of the Synodical Conference for consideration and
deliberation during the coming biennium and to submit the result of
their deliberations to the next meeting of the Synodical Conference.
The Missionary Board of the Synodical Conference is hereby in-
structed and authorized to confer with the various synods and to
continue to gather information on this subject and to pass on such
information by word of mouth as well as in official synodical pub-
lications.
The convention, in this connection, gratefully recognized by
resolution the liberal collections of our colored brethren for a mission
in Africa.
Adopted.
Jubilee Book.
Regarding the question whether the price of the book Half a
Century of Lutheranism Among Our Colored People should be re-
duced, your Committee recommends that, since the price is already
very low, no reduction be made, but that the book be used as an
inducement to increase the circulation of our missionary publica-
tions, the Missionstaube and the Lutheran Pioneer, and that our
pastors and teachers be urged to bring this very interesting and in-
structive book to the knowledge of their people and to promote its sale.
Adopted.
“Missionstaube” and “Lutheran Pioneer.”
Your Committee is of the conviction that the Missionstaube and
the Lutheran Pioneer should under no circumstances be discontinued
and that a strenous effort should be made to increase the circulation
of these valuable, well-edited missionary publications.
Therefore we recommend that every pastor within the Synodical
Conference of North America be urged to use the Sunday immediately
preceding the annual mission-festival to encourage the members of
his congregation to become readers of one or of both of these pub-
lications, that he appoint a committee, including a teacher, which on
that very Sunday distribute sample copies of these publications
among his members, and that the same committee solicit new sub-
scribers at the mission-festivals.
