Daß die Ehrw. Synodalkonferenz mit Dank gegen Gott ihre Freude

Anbetracht der Verhältniſſe, in welchen ſie größtenteils wohnen. —
Angenommen.

Daß wir unſere Freude darüber ausdrücken, daß Gott ſich ſo

Committee Report.

The committee of the Reverend Synodical Conference [Synodalkonferenz], appointed by the Reverend President to give its opinion on the report of the Commission for the Negro Mission, assembled already on Tuesday and held three sessions with representatives of the Mission Commission and with workers in the Negro Mission, and herewith submits the following recommendations:

That the Reverend Synodical Conference, with thanks to God, express its joy that our Lutheran Negro Christians are learning the art of giving ever better and are raising really astonishing sums in view of the circumstances in which they for the most part live. — Adopted.

That we express our joy that God so gloriously acknowledges the work which we are carrying on among the poor, despised Negroes, and that through the preaching of his Word there are gathered among them those who know, honor and worship him. — Adopted.

That we acknowledge the faithful and in many cases so self-sacrificing labor of the workers in the mission and the prudent leadership and blessed activity of Director Drewes and of the whole Commission for the Negro Mission. — Adopted.

That the Reverend Synodical Conference, by a letter to Dr. Georg Mezger, express its hearty appreciation of the inestimable services rendered by him and wish him God's blessing for his important work in Europe. — Dr. Mezger was for almost fifteen years a member of the Negro Mission Commission and almost never missed the hundreds of meetings of the Commission held in these fifteen years. He always showed this mission his lively and warm interest. — Adopted.

We recommend:

To grant $1,000 for a new church and school in Pine Hill. — Adopted.

To grant $3,500 for a building site and church in Selma. — Adopted.

To encourage the Commission to acquire real estate in Alexandria and to erect a chapel and school on it at a price of about $6,000. — Adopted.

To grant $150 for repair of the property of the St. Paul's congregation at Charlotte. — Adopted.
