46 Verhandlungen der neunundzwanzigſten Verſammlung

14. Mount Zion, Charlotte. (Gegründet 1896. Miſſionar:
J. McDavid.) Die Seelenzahl iſt von 56 auf 60 geſtiegen. Zuwachs
St. Paulsgemeinde. Sie haben letztes Jahr im Durchſchnitt $10 per
konfirmiertes Glied beigetragen.

15. Bethel, Charlotte. (Gegründet im September 1911.
Miſſionar: J. McDavid, ſeit Juni 1923.) „Dieſe Station hat ſich
nicht ſo gut gemacht“, ſchreibt Miſſionar McDavid. Seelen: 58.
Abendmahlsberechtigte: 37. In der Schule hatte Lehrerin Letha Sizer
40 Schüler.

16. Bethlehem, Monroe. (Gegründet 1900. Miſſionar:
J. McDavid, ſeit Juni 1923.) Vor einigen Jahren war die Gemeinde
faſt ausgeſtorben. Doch die auf Neubelebung gerichtete Hoffnung hat
ſich verwirklicht. Seelen: 27 (Zunahme in zwei Jahren: 21). Die
Schule wurde letzten Winter von 40 Kindern beſucht. (Lehrer: Gordon
Ferguſon.) Der durchſchnittliche Beſuch in der Sonntagsſchule iſt 33,
im Predigtgottesdienſt 40. McDavid ſchreibt: “The people here are
enthusiastic about their church.”

19. Mount Calvary bei Kannapolis. (Gegründet am 6. Juli

46 Proceedings of the twenty-ninth convention

14. Mount Zion, Charlotte. (Founded 1896. Missionary: J. McDavid.) The number of souls has risen from 56 to 60. Growth is hardly to be expected, because the district borders on the finest part of the fine city of Charlotte and real estate is very valuable. Our members here are better off than the people in the St. Paul's congregation. Last year they contributed an average of $10 per confirmed member.

15. Bethel, Charlotte. (Founded in September 1911. Missionary: J. McDavid, since June 1923.) "This station has not done so well," writes Missionary McDavid. Souls: 58. Communicant members: 37. In the school Teacher Letha Sizer had 40 pupils.

16. Bethlehem, Monroe. (Founded 1900. Missionary: J. McDavid, since June 1923.) A few years ago the congregation had almost died out. But the hope of a revival has been fulfilled. Souls: 27 (increase in two years: 21). The school was attended by 40 children last winter. (Teacher: Gordon Ferguson.) Average attendance at Sunday school is 33, at the preaching service 40. McDavid writes: [Printed in English.] “The people here are enthusiastic about their church.”

17. Mount Calvary, Mount Pleasant. (Founded 1893. Missionary: Frank D. Alston, since July 1923. He lives in Charlotte.) The missionary reports: "This station has lost many members to the two neighboring congregations in Concord and Drys Schoolhouse. We have some faithful old members who always come to the service and do what they can; but the prospects are not favorable. Between the church and the little town there is a forest; therefore a stranger only very rarely comes to the service." Souls: 96. Communicant members: 63. Of these, 7 children and 28 adults are temporarily absent. The services are attended on average by 10 children and 33 adults.

18. St. Peter's, Drys Schoolhouse. (Founded 1897. Missionary: F. D. Alston, since July 1923.) Souls: 34. Communicant members: 26. Voting members: 10. "Here we have a peculiar congregation," says Missionary Alston in his report, "a congregation that would continue for years even if it had no pastor. The people keep the congregation's property in good condition of their own accord. When I came to church on a Sunday in May, I found that the women had bought a beautiful carpet and the men had laid it. The old chairs on which the choir sat they had replaced with new ones. Some time ago they also presented communion vessels to the congregation." It is always a pleasure for the writer when he visits this congregation.

19. Mount Calvary near Kannapolis. (Founded on 6 July 1902. Missionary: F. D. Alston, since July 1919.) Of all the congregations in North Carolina this one is growing fastest. In the past two years the number of souls has risen from 49 to 107, that is, has more than doubled. On average 49 children and 51 adults attend the Sunday afternoon service. The old little church became too small. So last year the congregation put up an addition (30×36 feet). The cost came to about $1,200. The congregation raised half of it, and the
