Grievances.

1. Of Mr. R. Köhler, pastor at Pontiac, Ill.

Resolved, that since he has already renounced our Synod, his
grievance be dismissed (cf. the report of the Illinois District for 1877,
p. 92).

2. Of a congregation member in Wisconsin (together with 31 members
of the same congregation, and an opinion on the matter in question).

Resolved, that the persons named be referred to the president of
their district, who has not yet taken any action in this matter.

3. Of a congregation member in Minnesota.

Resolved, that he turn to his district synod, which has not yet been
asked to look into the matter.

4. Of a congregation member in Indiana.

Resolved, that the congregation there be advised to have the matter
investigated once more.

Resolved, that a committee consisting of Pastors C. Schmidt and
P. Seuel be entrusted with this investigation.

Votes of Thanks.

Resolved, that Pastor Brunn be given hearty thanks for his devoted
work, which he has shown for years in preparing young men for the
ministry for our Synod, and by which he has brought about an
extraordinarily great blessing for the kingdom of God.

Resolved, that hearty thanks be given to the preparatory committee
convened by the General Presidium — consisting of Pastors H. Hanser and
H. Wunder and the deputies J. Birkner, C. Spilmann, and J. H. Melcher —
for the fact that, beyond the great services rendered to the Synod during
its sessions, they had already, six days before the convention began,
accomplished with strenuous diligence and in the most selfless manner an
extraordinarily extensive body of preparatory work, since it also required
them to examine all the affairs of the agency, typesetting, printing, and
bindery business — work without which the Synod would hardly have
reached its goal.

Resolved, that our outgoing General Treasurer, Mr. E. F. W. Meier of
St. Louis, be given hearty thanks for his unpaid, excellent, and faithful
administration of his office — according to the testimony of the
preparatory committee.

Further resolved, that this vote of thanks be sent in writing to the
outgoing General Treasurer by the Secretary of the Synod.

Resolved, that the congregations of St. Louis, on the following day
(Sunday, May 26), in all their churches, through the respective...
