52 Verhandlungen der vierzehnten Verſammlung

beſonderen Seiten hin in Betracht kommt.

52 Proceedings of the fourteenth convention

3. How a congregation exercises this right, it must in the end determine for itself; yet it should take good care that it does not sin against love.

4. The specific application of this decision is the affair of those concerned.

5. A congregation, where it is a matter of changing synodical affiliation within the circle of orthodox synods, must not lose sight of the fact that it is bound to its previous synod by a special bond, so that in the dissolution of such a relationship the commandment of love comes into consideration in special respects. It should therefore make use of its right only when guided by the weightiest reasons and in Christian order, so that it may not abuse its right.

Report of the Committee for the Evaluation of the Letter of the Editorial Office of a Leipzig Newspaper.

There have been handed to the undersigned committee, for evaluation, sample copies of a newspaper appearing in Leipzig since January 1891, entitled "Chronik der christlichen Welt" [Chronicle of the Christian World], and a letter from its editorial office. In the latter the request is expressed that the Synodical Conference [*Synodalconferenz*], by sending official gazettes and official decrees and by communicating personal notices, support the editorial office of the said newspaper in its endeavor to produce a news sheet that would bring, with the greatest possible impartiality, completeness and speed, all communications that it is important and useful for a member of the evangelical church to learn.

However desirable the achievement of this aim appears to the committee, it does not believe it can recommend to the Reverend Synodical Conference to enter directly into the above request. Rather, the businesslike way appears to be that the editorial office of the above newspaper be advised to put itself in touch with the publishing houses of the individual synods and with the editorial offices of our synodical papers, with a view to obtaining synodical reports and exchanging papers.

The Committee
Ph. von Rohr,
F. W. A. Notz,
H. A. Christiansen.

Adopted.

Bohemian Mission.

Resolved: To decline the petition to take over the Bohemian Mission [*Böhmenmiſſion*], hitherto conducted by the Minnesota Synod in association with the Minnesota and Dakota District of the Synod of Missouri, and to leave this mission matter under its present direction.
