der ev.⸗luth. Synodalconferenz von Nord⸗America 1898.. 49

Canada⸗Diſtrict: P. A. Krafft, Fiſherville, Ontario, Canada.
Südlicher Diſtrict: P. A. Kramer, Thorndale, Tex.
c. Aus der Minneſota⸗Synode: Prof. J. Schaller, New
Ulm, Minn.
d. Aus der Wisconſin⸗Synode: P. C. Jäger, Racine, Wis.
e. Aus der engliſchen Miſſouri⸗Synode: P. D. Steffens,
Detroit, Mich.

of the Ev. Luth. Synodical Conference of North America 1898.. 49

Canada District: Pastor A. Krafft, Fisherville, Ontario, Canada.
Southern District: Pastor A. Kramer, Thorndale, Tex.
c. From the Minnesota Synod: Prof. J. Schaller, New Ulm, Minn.
d. From the Wisconsin Synod: Pastor C. Jäger, Racine, Wis.
e. From the English Missouri Synod: Pastor D. Steffens, Detroit, Mich.

It was further resolved:

6. that Prof. Dau be appointed to advocate the cause of the Negro Mission from time to time in the *Lutheran Witness*.

On account of the present financial distress, the Synodical Conference [*Synodalconferenz*] resolved for the time being to refrain from founding a higher school for Negroes at Meherrin, Va., but to keep it firmly in view for the future.

The insuring of the Negro Mission's church property was left to the Commission.

Since Pastor Sapper had asked the Synodical Conference to release him from the Mission Commission on account of his advanced age, the convention resolved to grant his request and to thank him heartily for his many years of excellent service in the Commission, as well as as editor of the "Miſſions⸗Taube" [Missionary Dove]. Pastor J. Bernthal of St. Louis was elected to the Commission in his place.

Prof. Bischof of Fort Wayne was again elected editor of the *Lutheran Pioneer*.

In consequence of the Commission's report that Missionary Bakke had lost, in the course of the last two years, both his wife and his only daughter by death, the convention expressed to him its heartfelt sympathy by rising.

II. Revision of the English Catechism.

The committee entrusted with this task reported that it had not yet completed its work. The Synodical Conference therefore resolved to give it two more years, and granted that the committee may, if necessary, meet in a centrally located place before, in any case after, the preparation of the intended trial printing of the revised translation.

Pastor F. Kügele, who belongs to this committee, had submitted a request to be released. Since the Synodical Conference could not recognize his grounds, it instructed the revision committee to negotiate further with Pastor Kügele about this matter, but at the same time gave it authority to fill the vacancy if Pastor Kügele should insist on his release.
