50 Proceedings of the twenty-fourth convention
absent, he shall from time to time send in reports on his activity. The Director shall live in the same place as the commission or at least in easily accessible proximity.
§ 12. The commission is bound to obtain the Director's counsel in all important cases and decisions, unless the Director is absent and the matter allows no longer delay. In general the commission shall give every counsel and proposal of the Director careful, exact consideration. In particular the commission shall hear and weigh the Director's counsel when it is a matter of the salaries of the missionaries and teachers.
§ 13. The commission has to see to the material support of the Director. His salary is fixed by the Synodical Conference itself, and indeed at such a level that he can cover his often large expenses on his travels out of his salary itself. His actual travel costs (railway tickets, sleeping car) will be reimbursed to him from the mission treasury.
§ 14. The Director shall as a rule attend the conventions of the Synodical Conference and give it a brief report on his work.
§ 15. If the Director has complaints or charges against individual workers in the mission, he shall, after unsuccessful brotherly admonition and discussion, lay them before the commission. If he or other mission workers have complaints or accusations against the commission, these belong — likewise after unsuccessful brotherly admonition and discussion — before the forum of the Synodical Conference.
