J. N. J. [In the name of Jesus]

The Evangelical Lutheran Synodical Conference [*Synodalkonferenz*] of North America held its twenty-fourth convention from 14 to 19 August 1912 in the Church of the Holy Cross in Saginaw, Mich. The opening sermon, which by resolution is appended to this report, was preached by Prof. D. F. Pieper of Concordia Seminary at St. Louis, Mo. At the closing service, with which the celebration of Holy Communion was combined, P. F. Brunn Sr. of Oak Glen, Ill., preached on the Confessions of the Lutheran Church. On Sunday afternoon the congregations of Saginaw and vicinity held a joint mission service in the auditorium at Saginaw. Prof. G. Mezger of St. Louis, Missionary E. H. Schmidt of New Orleans and Missionary J. H. Doswell of St. Louis gave addresses on the *Negermission* [mission among African Americans; the period's term "Negro Mission"] in our country.

Eight sessions were held in all. The doctrinal discussions that had been planned had to be dispensed with, because a serious discussion of the Articles of Union adopted by the Lutheran synods of Norwegian nationality in our country took up the main time of the Conference.

In the first afternoon session on Wednesday, 14 August, the convention organized itself by recognizing the certified delegates and by electing the officers for the coming two years. The following persons were present and entitled to seat and vote:

1. From the Michigan Synod:
PP. F. Krauß, J. Gauß; Prof. O. Hönecke; Mr. Friedr. Stark.

2. From the Minnesota Synod:
PP. E. A. Pankow, J. R. Baumann; Professors Joh. Meyer, J. E. Sperling.

3. From the Missouri Synod:
Atlantic District: P. P. Rösener; Teacher E. H. Engelbrecht.
Brazilian District: No one.
California and Nevada District: No one.
Canada District: P. S. V. Eir; Teacher Geo. Hartwick.
English District: PP. E. C. Fackler, W. Dallmann; Messrs. E. Knorr, J. M. Scheuermann.
Iowa District: PP. Theo. Wolfram, W. F. Georg; Messrs. Gustav Rabe, H. Tiarks.
Kansas District: PP. Th. Jüngel, M. K. C. Vetter; Teachers M. F. Lüders, J. A. W. Wiersig.
