of the Ev. Luth. Synodical Conference of North America. 1912. 47
7. On the occasion of the retirement of Prof. R. A. Bischoff from the editorship of the Lutheran Pioneer, your committee ventures the following recommendation:
a. that through its secretary the heartfelt thanks of the Synodical Conference [*Synodalkonferenz*] be expressed to Prof. Bischoff for his 34 years of faithful work, crowned by God with rich blessing;
b. that, as a modest expression of our gratitude, a check for $100.00 be presented to him;
c. that the commission be authorized to elect a new editor for the Lutheran Pioneer.
8. Your committee calls attention to the fact that the mission papers, "Missionstaube" [*Mission Dove*] and Lutheran Pioneer, by far do not yet have in our circles the circulation that one might expect, and recommends that the Honorable Synodical Conference encourage all pastors and teachers, especially also the representatives of the Negro Mission [*Negermission*] at the synods and districts, to work to the best of their ability to win new readers for these papers.
9. Your committee recommends that hearty thanks be voted to the officers of the mission for their faithful work and to the patrons of our mission for their gifts, some of them very considerable.
10. Your committee recommends that the Conference be willing to receive from Mission Director Bakke an oral report on his activity.

3. Other Matters.
a. As recommended in the committee report, Director Bakke was given opportunity to present an oral report on his activity.
b. Following up the resolution of the Synodical Conference of the year 1910 to raise the salaries of the white workers in the Negro Mission according to need, the Wisconsin District of the Honorable Missouri Synod submitted a petition that the salaries of the colored workers also be raised in the same manner. On behalf of the commission it was pointed out that this had already been done even without special authorization. The Conference resolved to approve the commission's course of action and to leave the regulation of salaries in the future to the commission.
c. The Secretary was instructed by the President [*Präses*] to record as a wish of the Conference: that the treasurers of the individual synods and districts should regularly, if possible monthly, at least
