Dieſe Gemeinde zählt 18 See⸗
Gegen⸗
wärtig wird dort mit 19 Kindern Sommerſchule gehalten. Wir be⸗
ſitzen hier kein Eigentum.

work at the college he could not serve the congregation, for which there is much mission material, as it deserved. He could not, that is, make enough house visits, collect, give confirmation instruction by day and by night, and so on. He did the work as well as he could. But then his work at the college had to suffer. When this spring he had a call to a white congregation, he was asked to stay and to be patient yet a little longer. Now at last the promise which the previous as well as the present Commission gave him has been fulfilled. Candidate Otho Lynn of Immanuel College has been called for the congregation. He will also serve the two branches High Point and Elon College. In the Grace school this year there were 110 children and in the Sunday school 39. The teachers of the weekday school, E. A. H. Buntrock and Miss Claudia Galloway, are both colored.
Trinity Church in Elon College is a branch of Grace Church and was also in this biennium again served by Prof. M. Lochner from Greensboro. This congregation counts 18 souls, 10 communicants and 3 voting members. A student of Immanuel College holds summer school with 20 children. The chapel and the lot at Elon College have a value of $500.00.
High Point, Randolph Co. Last year Mission Director Bakke founded a congregation here, which now counts 8 souls, 4 communicants and 2 voting members and has been served by Prof. J. Ph. Schmidt. Dir. Bakke thinks High Point is a promising place and that we should have a school there. At present summer school is being held there with 19 children. We own no property here.
b. Besides Grace Church we have in Greensboro a second mission, namely at Immanuel College, which is led by Dir. F. Berg and has 17 souls, 13 communicants, 2 voting members and 48 Sunday school pupils. At the services, which are now held in the afternoon in the auditorium and are therefore better attended, our professors preach, now and then also a student. The new Immanuel school, which the dear children in the circle of the Synodical Conference [*Synodalkonferenz*] had erected, was formally dedicated on 5 November 1911. It cost altogether, with its interior furnishing, $3741.19. In the middle of July $293.65 was still lacking from this sum. Teachers M. N. Carter and Evans W. Reid as well as Miss Mary Brown, all colored, work, as far as one can see, with faithfulness and diligence. But attendance on the part of the pupils since December has been by no means satisfactory. 174 children were on the roll, while the actual school attendance averaged only 80. If this does not improve in the autumn, one teacher can be dismissed.
c. Salisbury, St. John's. (Missionary: Negro pastor W. H. Lash.) In and near Salisbury, Rowan Co., 2000 Negroes live. Of these there are under Missionary Lash's pastoral care 43 souls, 16 communi-
