ſondern in ſeiner Arbeit getroſt fortfährt;

Bibliotheken.

46 Proceedings of the twenty-fourth convention

of the commission in its report — instruct Mission Director Bakke to stay for some time in Little Rock, in order to determine whether it is now time to appoint a missionary there; and further, to authorize its commission to proceed, according to the finding of the Mission Director, in the matter of appointing a missionary for Little Rock.

2. Concerning the stations Mount Zion, St. Paul and Carrollton in New Orleans, your committee recommends that the appointment of three teachers, that is, two teachers and one woman teacher, be resolved by the Synodical Conference.

3. In Napoleonville, La., in spite of nine years of work, no congregation has yet been founded, because "almost everything is stuck in the lodge." In Bertrandville, where conditions are similar, the work has already been discontinued, as was reported orally to the committee. Your committee recommends that the Mission Director be instructed to visit these places also and to investigate the conditions there thoroughly.

4. Concerning the building of a chapel in St. Louis, desired by Missionary Doswell, your committee recommends:

a. that it be set aside for the time being, not only for financial reasons but also because at present the location suitable for such a property cannot yet be determined. We hope that the missionary will not be discouraged by such a negative answer, but will continue confidently in his work;

b. that the commission be charged with making the attempt to rent a more suitable place for the station than the present one.

5. In High Point, N. C., a promising place, the mission still has no property. We recommend that the commission be authorized, if necessary, to erect there a chapel suited to the needs.

6. a. For Immanuel College in Greensboro, N. C., your committee recommends as most urgently necessary an appropriation to connect the drain with a sewer system.

b. Two years ago the Synodical Conference authorized the commission "to install central heating in the school building if there is good prospect that the necessary funds will come in." We recommend that the Synodical Conference now instruct the commission to pursue energetically the collection of funds for this central heating. We are not in a position to give more precise information about the cost.

c. With regard to the building of professors' residences requested in the report, we recommend that it be set aside for now.

d. Your committee supports the request of the faculties of Greensboro and New Orleans for a one-time appropriation of $100.00 each for the procurement of the necessary apparatus, etc., for instruction in natural history, as well as $10.00 annually for the completion of these collections and $10.00 each annually for the enlargement of the libraries.
