§ 11. Der Direktor iſt in ſeiner ganzen Tätigkeit an die Be⸗

§ 4. He shall further seek to gain as exact a knowledge as possible of the whole mission field and of its individual stations, so that he has and retains an overview of the whole work.
§ 5. To this end he shall from time to time visit the individual stations and fields of our mission. On these visits he shall discuss thoroughly with the missionaries and teachers the whole work and condition of their stations and schools, give them counsel in a brotherly way, and so stand by them with advice and encouragement in their difficult, responsible work. He shall also take care whether our mission workers are well provided for in material respects according to their circumstances. — This is not, however, to exclude that members of the commission also from time to time visit the mission fields, since it is necessary that they too gain a closer insight into the stations and fields.
§ 6. On these visits he shall also, in conjunction with the pastors and teachers, visit the congregations and schools. In his visitations he shall direct his attention to this, that God's Word is preached to the congregations purely and clearly, and that they are brought up and guided in an evangelical way ever more toward proper Christian self-reliance, to provide ever better for their own support, to defray its costs ever more themselves, and to contribute toward the building up of the kingdom of God in general, for the mission.
§ 7. He shall also, as far as his time permits, attend the conferences of the missionaries and congregations and seek to make them profitable and fruitful through addresses and participation in the discussions. He might also propose suitable topics for discussion.
§ 8. In an emergency he shall serve vacant congregations and mission fields for a time.
§ 9. He shall also visit the educational institutions of the mission from time to time, discuss with the respective faculty the state, the prosperity and any needs of the institution, and serve it with his counsel.
§ 10. A further task of the Director is this, to take care also for the further expansion of the work. To this end he shall look around for new fields in which the work of the mission could be undertaken, explore these fields, and make proposals about them to the commission.
§ 11. The Director is bound in all his activity to the resolutions of the commission and is answerable to it for his actions. He is a member of the commission and should therefore, as often as his other activity permits, attend its meetings, serve it especially with his exact knowledge of the mission field, make proposals to it, and in general assist it with counsel in its manifold decisions and resolutions. If he is
