salary of the missionaries and mission helpers [*Miſſions⸗Gehilfen*], and takes care that this, like all other money necessary for the proper conduct of the mission work, is paid out by the treasurer on its instruction. The Mission Treasurer shall at every convention of the Synodical Conference submit a written report on all receipts and expenditures, and in this accounting he is also to note whether and what contributions from the individual synods belonging to the Synodical Conference, or respectively from district synods, have flowed into the Mission Treasury. The term of service of the Mission Board, which board should, if possible, live in one place and meet at least once a month, shall be 4 years.

II. The Mission Board at first appoints one missionary. Only such a person can be called by the Mission Board for the conduct of the mission work as has already beforehand been examined as to doctrine and life by one of the synods connected with the Synodical Conference and found competent. In particular it is to be seen to that the person or persons to be appointed possess just the qualities belonging to the conduct of the Heathen Mission. Such appointees shall, as often as the Mission Board demands it, send in to it a written report of their activity, and shall not only take care of the adults but also gather the children and, wherever it can possibly be done, set up Christian parish schools [*Gemeinde⸗Schulen*]. For the holding of public worship as well as Christian school, the missionary shall rent a suitable place, or, where this would be more advantageous in the judgment of the Mission Board, one shall be acquired by purchase, yet the said property shall be the property of the Synodical Conference until it is disposed of further at a later time according to its direction.

III. The representatives present here of the synods connected with the Synodical Conference pledge themselves not only to promote the Heathen Mission resolved by this venerable body energetically in their congregations, each for his own person, but also to work in their respective synods toward this mission becoming, as intended, the mission of all congregations belonging to the Synodical Conference, so that the mission moneys collected in the congregations are no longer, as formerly, sent to other mission societies but used for the mission of the Synodical Conference. Further, they pledge themselves also to lay this before their respective synods and to work toward this, that wherever Christian young men are found in the congregations who have desire and gifts to let themselves be trained as missionaries or as teachers among the heathen, they be not only encouraged to this but, where necessary, also supported, to make it possible for them. Such young men, as well as poor, pious and gifted boys from among the heathen who wish to devote themselves to the mission, shall be
