of the Ev. Luth. Synodical Conference of North America. 1910. 51

Only on page 70 of the report of the year 1909 is there found, lines 5 to 8,
a manner of speaking that does not seem to us to be grounded in Scripture.
                                                   H. Sprengeler.
                                                   B. Sievers.

The undersigned committee, commissioned by the Reverend Presidium,
has examined the report of the Reverend General Ev. Luth. Joint Synod [Allgemeine Synode] of Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan and Other States for the year 1909
conscientiously and found nothing in it that is contrary to the Word of God
and the Confession of the Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Subject of the doctrinal proceedings: "Un-Lutheran Conduct in
Lutheran Congregations." J. F. Rubel.
                                                   J. Strasen.

The undersigned committee, commissioned by the Reverend Presidium,
has conscientiously examined the report of the Ev. Luth. Synod of Missouri and other States for
the year 1907 and found nothing in it that is contrary to
the Word of God and the Confession of the Evangelical Lutheran
Church. Subject of the doctrinal proceedings: "Theses
on Conversion." [Printed in English.] O. Hagedorn.
                                                   Aug. C. Bendler.

The undersigned committee, commissioned by the Reverend Presidium,
has conscientiously examined the report of the Ev. Luth. Synod of Missouri and other States for
the year 1909 and found nothing in it that is contrary to
the Word of God and the Confession of the Evangelical Lutheran
Church. Subject of the doctrinal proceedings: "Church
and State." [Printed in English.] O. Hagedorn.
                                                   Aug. C. Bendler.

The undersigned have read the synodical report of the twelfth Delegate
Synod of the Reverend Missouri Synod. In general
they find that in this report the Word of God is followed in what is said.
But they must point to a statement found on page 17:
"The whole of Christendom on earth is, in respect of the
doctrine of grace, 'Missourian' in sentiment." This sentence seems to them at least
liable to misunderstanding, since it recalls the old, much-contested Buffalo doctrine
of the Church. — They further point to the exposition
under "Our Foreign Relations" (2nd paragraph, pp. 22, 23).
In it we find that the misunderstanding may easily arise
as if the relation of a soul to a congregation stood on the same level
with the relation of a person or congregation to the synod.
                                                   E. F. Dornfeld.
                                                   Aug. C. Bendler.

The convention could not recognize the objections made in this report
as well founded and resolved to accept only the words:
"that in this report the Word of God is followed in what is said."
