der Ev.⸗Luth. Synodalkonferenz von Nordamerika. 1910. 23

I. Aufnahmen.

Herr Präſes G. Bergemann berichtete, daß die Deutſche Ev.⸗Luth.
Synode von Wisconſin u. a. St. die Aufnahme der Ev.⸗Luth. Diſtrikts⸗
ſynode von Nebraska u. a. St., ſowie der Slowakiſch⸗Evangeliſchen
A. C.⸗Synode von Pennſylvania in die Ev.⸗Luth. Synodalkonferenz
von Nordamerika ratifiziert habe. — Damit iſt die Aufnahme genannter
Synoden in die Synodalkonferenz perfekt.

II.

Synodalkonferenz folgenden Be⸗

of the Ev. Luth. Synodical Conference of North America. 1910. 23

We are God's children and heirs, and in view of this we
hold "that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory
which shall be revealed in us," Rom. 8:18. "For we shall
see him as he is," 1 John 3:2.

The thanks of the Synodical Conference [Synodalkonferenz] were voted to the Reverend Essayist for
his work. He was requested to bring it to a conclusion at the next convention.

Business Proceedings.

I. Admissions.

President G. Bergemann reported that the German Ev. Luth.
Synod of Wisconsin and Other States had ratified the admission of the Ev. Luth. District
Synod of Nebraska and Other States, as well as of the Slovak Evangelical
A. C. Synod of Pennsylvania, into the Ev. Luth. Synodical Conference
of North America. — Thereby the admission of the said
synods into the Synodical Conference is complete.

II. The Michigan Synod

The following committee report was read and adopted:

The committee, charged with drawing up a declaration on the present
church-law standing of the hitherto District Synod of Michigan,
respectfully submits the following finding to the Reverend Synodical Conference:

The District Synod of Michigan has changed its name and
is again called, as until 1896, the "Ev. Luth. Synod of Michigan
and Other States." By way of explanation the following is offered:

In the year 1896 a split took place in the Michigan Synod.
The majority kept the name and property and withdrew from the Synodical
Conference. The minority wished indeed to be the old Michigan Synod
but was not permitted to use that name and remained in the Synodical
Conference as the "Ev. Luth. District Synod of Michigan." The
split was not based on doctrinal disputes but on differences
over the direction of the synod and of the seminary at Saginaw. After
various experiences the Michigan Synod that had withdrawn came to the
realization that only joining the Synodical Conference
corresponded to its confessional position. In free conferences with pastors of the
Michigan District of the Missouri Synod full doctrinal unity was
established; in more official negotiations with the pastors of the
District Synod of Michigan the old matters were discussed and
