lishment of a general theological institution give our hearty consent.

"2.) The Wisconsin Synod has adopted the following resolutions:

"1) The Last Year's Synodical Conference [*Synodalconferenz*]. The committee appointed to report reports: 'that it has found in the proceedings of the Honorable Synodical Conference a declaration of a committee consisting of representatives of all the synods, to which our synod can in general give its full consent, which, however, cannot be understood by us as if a synod belonging to the Synodical Conference had in every case, when it intends to undertake something, first to seek the counsel of the other synods or to notify them of it, since thereby the course of business and the effectiveness of the individual synods could often be hindered or paralyzed.' The synod adopted this report as the expression of its opinion."

2) See Report of 1878, pp. 38, 39.

With respect
Of the Honorable Synodical Conference the most devoted committee:
W. S. Stubnatzy.
C. H. L. Schütte.
G. Schaller."

"Your Committee, to which the 17th Synodical Report of the General Synod of Missouri, Ohio and Other States, as well as the 3rd Synodical Report of the Illinois District of the Missouri Synod, was handed for report, takes the liberty of remarking that in the former no doctrinal proceedings, but in the latter proceedings on Union or fellowship of faith and church fellowship are contained; but that it has found, so far as it was able to examine, nothing that needed special mention or comment.

"At the same time the Committee takes the liberty of proposing to the Honorable Synodical Conference that in future, at the conventions, the committees be appointed in advance which are to report at the following convention on the various synodical minutes, so that sufficient time and opportunity for careful examination of them be given to the same.

F. A. Schmidt.
R. Adelberg.
Fr. Wolbrecht."

These reports were all adopted and on the basis of the proposal made in the last report it was

resolved: that in future the president of the Conference appoint at the conventions the committees which at the following con-
