Synode von Miſſouri u. a. St. anzuſchließen.
III.
„Was nun zunächſt jene Synodalberichte anbelangt, ſo berichten die

to join, for the three reasons given in the report, the Western District of the Honorable Synod of Missouri and Other States.
III. The Matter of the Translation of the Book of Concord into the English Language
the Synodical Conference [*Synodalconferenz*] resolved to discuss at its next convention.
IV. English Readers for the Schools.
A letter had come in from Prof. R. Lange, in which he reported that, for lack of help from the members of the committee who had been assigned to him for the preparation of English readers, it had not been possible for him to carry out the relevant commission of the Synodical Conference, and that he wished to be released from the said committee.
Thereupon it was resolved: to grant Prof. Lange's request for release from the committee for the publication of English readers. Director Burgdorf was now elected to work out English readers.
V. Examination of the Synodical Reports of the Synods Belonging to the Conference.
"The documents handed to the undersigned for report are:
1. The last year's annual reports of the Northern and Southern Districts, as well as of the English and of the Concordia English Districts, of the General Evangelical Lutheran Synod of Ohio; and
2. The report of two district presidents of the said synod on the agendas, hymnals and catechisms used within their districts, as well as on parish schools.
"As regards, first, those synodical reports, the undersigned report the following in respect of doctrinal proceedings:
"The Northern District had before it the continuation of the discussion of the theses 'on the relation of Law and Gospel, with special regard to preaching,' as well as a Referat [paper] on 'marriage with the sister of a deceased wife.' Since only one session could be devoted to the doctrinal proceedings, only the 4th subdivision of Thesis I was discussed.
"The Southern District dealt with a paper: 'Christian Liberty,' of whose 6 theses the first had already come up for discussion at the preceding annual meeting.
"The English District had theses on 'announcement for Communion' [Beichtmeldung] and
