                              M. Loy.
                              Jno. Riebling.
                              Joh. Umbach.
                              Hugo Hanſer.“

the Conference as writer and translator; they further have 2 church buildings and 3 parish schools.

4. They say that they do not dare to join the Honorable Synodical Conference [*Synodalconferenz*] as an integral part, because they are too poor and fear that they could not, for a long time, bear the expenses that such a connection would bring with it; even now it was only the Southeastern District Conference of the Missouri Synod that made it possible for Pastor Wagner to come, in that it raised his travel costs.

5. Since the Honorable Synodical Conference has now taken up the matter of Home Mission at its present sessions, the English Conference of Missouri offers itself to this body as a center or point of departure for this work, so that its pastors shall henceforth be regarded as missionaries of the Honorable Synodical Conference; at the same time they hope, however, that no harmful separation of the existing union between the pastors and their congregations may be caused.

6. They report that they are in urgent need of support, both for the building of churches and for the maintenance of the pastors in the weaker parishes. Yet they would be content with little and would not wish that the work of Home Mission at other, equally promising places be impaired in the least by it.

7. But should the Honorable Synodical Conference hold that the English Conference of Missouri had better place itself under the direct supervision of a neighbouring synod and connect itself with it, instead of being itself directly connected with this large body; they would also gladly accept this counsel.

"On the ground of all these facts the undersigned committee now gives its unauthoritative opinion to the effect that the said Conference should be advised to join, as an English Conference District, the Western District Synod of Missouri, 1. because under the existing circumstances this appears the most natural and simplest way, since they live in one state; 2. because the English Conference could thereby experience the more blessing, in that it can take part in larger numbers in the proceedings of that synod, and these also take place more frequently than the sessions of the Synodical Conference; 3. because it would thereby come better under the desired brotherly supervision and care, since the Synodical Conference could appoint no visitors.

"With all respect, etc.

M. Loy.
Jno. Riebling.
Joh. Umbach.
Hugo Hanser."

This committee report was adopted and it was resolved to advise the Honorable English Evangelical Lutheran Conference of Missouri,
