$4408.18 and the expenditures $3386.47, so that $1021.71 is still in the treasury. Whether this treasury report agrees with the books your Committee cannot report, since the books were not laid before it. Nor can it be seen from the report in what way the debt from last year, in the amount of $616.00, was covered; how large the contributions of the individual synods of the Synodical Conference [*Synodalconferenz*] are, and how much has been spent for the individual mission stations. Further, the report lacks any statement about the gifts that were handed directly to Missionary Döscher.
Respectfully
A. C. Burgdorf.
H. A. Christiansen."
This report was adopted and on the basis of it the following was resolved:
1. that an Audit Committee of three persons, who live in or near St. Louis, be appointed, which shall examine the vouchers of the treasurer, Mr. Umbach, as well as those of Mr. Schuricht, so far as the treasury of the Negro Mission is concerned, and report to the president of the Synodical Conference.
2. that the Audit Committee be hereby instructed to settle the whole treasury matter exactly, in conjunction with those concerned.
The Audit Committee shall consist of the Messrs.: Director Burgdorf, Wilh. Tepe (of Pastor Wolbrecht's congregation) and Teacher Jung of Collinsville. —
B. English Mission.
The English Evangelical Lutheran Conference of Missouri had, through its representative at this year's Synodical Conference, had a petition handed in to it, on which the committee entrusted with it made the following report:
"The matter that was submitted to your Committee for deliberation concerned a petition on the part of the English Conference of Missouri to the Honorable Synodical Conference, to the effect that the latter take the former, as a special mission body of its own, under its care and supervision. — From the letter submitted in the English language it appears:
1. that the English Conference of Missouri agrees in respect of doctrine in all points with the Honorable Synodical Conference, and that its constitution was drawn up and examined by men such as Dr. Walther, Prof. Crämer and others.
2. that it has authorized Pastor L. M. Wagner to speak and act for it here.
3. that it consists of 6 pastors with 8 congregations and 640 souls. A seventh pastor at present has no congregation any more, but serves
