dürfen „ohn' End' in Ewigkeit“! Amen.

build up and strengthen one another in the faith that has been given to the saints, and jointly lend a hand wherever a door opens for our Gospel! Through the Gospel God will lead us to new victories. For he is with his Word, in whose fellowship we stand.
Today we thank God for this fellowship from the first day until now, that he has brought us together in faith and confession and has given us the grace to be allowed to work together for his Gospel, and we pray him: Keep us, Lord, in thy Word, in faith, in confessing, in working, in the fellowship in the Gospel! What a jubilee it will be then, when we have overcome and may sing with our fathers, with "prophets great and patriarchs high, and Christians all together," also with those who were won through our "fellowship in the Gospel," "the Hallelujah," "without end in eternity"! Amen.
Doctrinal Discussions [*Lehrverhandlungen*].

The Struggle over Our School System.
The work that lies before us this year for discussion is only a continuation of the work that was begun two years ago but not finished. In the meantime the golden jubilee of the Synodical Conference has arrived. At first glance it might seem quite unsuitable to spend the jubilee convention on proceedings concerning a piece of work left unfinished. But a more suitable subject could hardly be found. The topic names our school system. It is settled for us from the outset, however, that for us it is not a matter of an external institution, of a more or less important matter of form; when we speak of the school system, we mean the education that we carry on in our schools, to which our schools devote not just a small part of the day, to which they are given wholly and entirely.
The education of our children is our most important task. If we neglect the young, if we lose the young, no greater harm can befall the church. The loss cannot be made good in any other way. However great the successes one may have to record in the field of Home and Foreign Missions, if we let our young people go to ruin, gain and loss stand to each other as if on the one side one collected drop by drop while on the other side one spilled out bucket by bucket.
Besides, of what kind will the fruit of our mission activity be if we neglect our young people? The mere fact that we
