of the Ev. Luth. Synodical Conference of North America. 1922. 43

up. — Made a resolution. On the part of various speakers there was lively report on mission hours, picture lectures, egg collections, collections in various societies and in the Sunday school, collections for particular chapels, missionaries and stations, on distribution of the mission papers, etc.

11. It is left to the Honorable Synodical Conference whether a residence should be bought for the mission director. — Resolved to buy one.

12. Several vacancies have arisen among the representatives of the Synodical Conference in some district synods. For these vacancies your committee proposes the following men:

Wisconsin Synod, West Wisconsin District: Rev. Alfred Sauer.

Slovak Synod: Rev. Stephan Tuhy.

Missouri Synod, Brazilian District: Rev. Aug. Drews.

Southern District: Rev. W. Hafner.

North Wisconsin District: Rev. Geo. Schrödel.

In the remaining districts the present members continue in office. — Resolved.

13. Concerning publicity the committee recommends:

a. that, with regard to the *Lutheran Pioneer* and the "Missionstaube" [Mission Dove], we encourage the Commission for Negro Mission, the pastors and teachers, and every Christian, to take care for the wider circulation of these two papers;

b. that we express our joy that the Commission this year has distributed special publications and has also otherwise provided for the publicity of the Negro Mission, and that we advocate, indeed encourage, that this continue in future, and indeed in the papers of all the synods belonging to the Synodical Conference, as was in fact resolved in the year 1920;

c. that we retain the *Lutheran Pioneer* as heretofore as the English parallel paper of the "Missionstaube," but that for the special use of the Negro congregations the present *Alabama Lutheran* be taken over with the consent of its publishers, then enlarged and subsidized by the Synodical Conference, by the same editorial staff but under the control of the Commission for Negro Mission, and published under a new name;

d. that we have enough copies of the October number of the *Lutheran Pioneer* and of the "Missionstaube" printed that every pastor of the Synodical Conference may receive one, in order to have material at hand to be able to instruct the people about our work. — Resolved.

In conclusion your committee recommends that the Synodical Conference vote the Commission for Negro Mission hearty thanks for its faithful services, and that it re-elect the three members whose term of office has expired, namely Prof. G. Mezger, Rev. L. A. Wisler and Mr.
