R. Lange, H. Wunder und A. Mikkelſen in Chicago.
Folgendes:
Allgemeinen Synode von Ohio u. a.
Allgemeinen Synode
von Ohio u. a. St. ſchlägt die Committee vor, zu beſchließen:
1. Die Synodalconferenz achtet die Dietrich'ſche Katechismuserklärung
für die empfehlenswertheſte.
men hat.

After lengthy deliberation on this subject the Synodical Conference [*Synodalconferenz*] adopted the following resolution: The Honorable Concordia Synod of Virginia is recognized as a member of the Synodical Conference as soon as the Honorable Synod of Ohio has given its consent to this present resolution and has published that consent in our church papers.
Proposal for Drawing Up Rules Concerning the Union of Formerly Separated Congregations and Their Synodical Membership.
On this subject, last year, in the discussion of the guiding principles regarding the so-called opposition congregations, a paper had been assigned to a delegate. The delegate concerned declared that, because of overload of work, he had not been able to carry out this assignment. Moreover, on closer reflection he had gained the conviction that it might be time to think of a merging of our synods into state synods, as was set as a goal at the founding of the Synodical Conference. Then this work that had been assigned to him would be superfluous. It was thereupon resolved that a committee of the Synodical Conference submit at its sessions in the coming year proposals for the attainment of the purpose (named in the Constitution § III), namely "striving for a delimitation of the synods according to territorial boundary." This committee consists of the pastors R. Lange, H. Wunder and A. Mikkelsen in Chicago.
Report on Various Synodical Reports.
The committee appointed to review various synodical reports which contain questions or proposals to the Synodical Conference reported the following:
The following documents were laid before your committee: 1. This year's report of the Honorable Southern District Synod of Ohio and Other States, in which the matter of an asylum for aged pastors is recommended to the Synodical Conference for consideration; 2. this year's report of the Honorable General Synod of Ohio and Other States, from which it appears that this Honorable body a) puts to the Synodical Conference the question which catechism explanation possesses such qualities that it can be recommended for general introduction, and b) asks that provision be made for the publication of an orthodox English liturgy.
Concerning the inquiry from the Honorable Southern District Synod the committee proposes to resolve:
The Synodical Conference considers it not advisable at this time to proceed to the founding of such an asylum.
Concerning the inquiry from the Honorable General Synod of Ohio and Other States the committee proposes to resolve:
1. The Synodical Conference holds the Dietrich explanation of the catechism to be the most commendable.
2. As regards the English liturgy, the committee considers it most advisable to appoint a committee to take up this work.
3. That the faculty at Columbus be designated to this end, with the instruction, after completing its work, to have it circulated among the faculties at St. Louis, Watertown and Decorah and, if possible, to lay the work before the Synodical Conference next year.
