leaders of tomorrow—the young adults, not through a new
program nor through a junior organization but rather through
the league’s existing organizational structure. Realizing that
young church men and women are committed to share the
Gospel of Jesus Christ with all men everywhere, the league
encourages young adults to become involved in the mission and
ministry of service at local, zone, district, and international
levels. Through their commitment and willingness to serve,
young adults are working with and learning from their elder
peers. A strong team of young and older dedicated Christians,
working together for Him, can and will continue to carry out
the mission of our Lord and of His church.

Membership

The league now numbers more than 160,000 members in all
50 states, the Dominion of Canada, Japan, Australia, South
America, and most of the foreign countries where our church
is at work. Any confirmed member of The Lutheran Church —
Missouri Synod or of any church body in altar and pulpit fellow-
ship with our Synod, male or female, is eligible for membership.
Membership is acquired through a voluntary contribution.
Every member of the league receives a copy of our monthly
publication, The Lutheran Layman.

The League's Mass Media Program

The International Lutheran Laymen's League is dedicated
to the objective of trying to reach every man, woman, and child
on the face of this earth with the sweetest story ever told, that
Jesus was born, lived, died, and rose again, in order that all who
embrace Him in faith may live with Him forever in the mansions
of heaven. Because of this commitment the league responded
to the Synod’s appeal in 1967 to help finance the Synod’s tele-
vision ministry, ‘‘This Is the Life.” The league has pledged to
contribute $625,000 of a total budget of $1,050,000 for the 1975
fiscal year. We are honored to be a vital part of this ministry
because we are convinced it is reaching people for and with
Christ.

Preaching Through the Press

The Preaching Through the Press program of the league will
enter its 15th year this fall. Over these years thousands of per-
sons have responded to various special advertisements. In
return they have been supplied with booklets that speak to
their specific problems of the day from a Christian point of view.
The Aid Association for Lutherans subsidized the program for
more than 10 years. The league now carries the full cost of this
program, totaling $100,000 a year.

In addition to the placement of ads in national newspaper
supplements and magazines, the league makes these same ad

copies available to LLL clubs and congregations for use in the
local newspapers. A recent PTP booklet, “I Am an Alcoholic,”
was translated into Spanish, and ads were placed in Spanish-
language newspapers throughout the United States. The
response has been phenomenal.

The Lutheran Hour

The Lutheran Hour is now in its 42d season of broadcasting.
In February 1975 it celebrated 40 years of being continuously
on the air. Using more than 1,100 stations in the United States
and Canada, The Lutheran Hour is heard in every corner of our
countries. The Lutheran Hour also broadcasts in Slovak,
Spanish, Chinese, Finnish, and Japanese in support of the
Synod’s home mission program.

“Day by Day with Jesus,” the International Lutheran
Laymen’s League's second broadcast syndication, is a 5-minute
daily program, broadcast in over 400 markets, providing dail
witness to millions. r

Through the years The Lutheran Hour has grown domesti-
cally and internationally. The ministry of Bringing Christ to the
Nations deems it a privilege to be active in support of the
Synod’s overseas mission efforts. Today 73 programs are pro-
duced worldwide, using 45 languages to proclaim the Gospel
message. Seventeen indigenous studios produce unique pro-
grams designed to communicate with men and women in their
own cultural context. Major international outreach efforts are
centered in offices in Argentina, Brazil, France, Germany,
Guatemala, India, Japan, Lebanon, Korea, Nigeria, the Philip-
pines, South Africa, the Republic of China, Hong Kong, New
Zealand, and Venezuela.

Budget

The league's budget for the current year is $5.9 million. This
is an increase of $1 million over last year. We are grateful for the
support that laymen and laywomen, congregations and orga-
nizations, schools and Sunday schools have been giving us
throughout the years. We solicit your continued prayers and
support.

Keep in mind that we are committed to beam Christ’s saving
Gospel to every human being on this earth by means of radio.
We are in mission for Christ and our beloved Synod. Our
prayers are with and for you during this convention and through
all the days ahead.

Grace, mercy, and peace from God our Father and our Lord
and Savior Jesus Christ be with you now and forevermore.
