To Transfer First, Charlotte, Mich.,
to Michigan District
WHEREAS, The members of First Lutheran Church, Char-
lotte, Mich., have expressed their desire to transfer from the
English District to the Michigan District for the following reasons:
a. Geographical— The West Michigan Circuit of the English
District encompasses such a large area that we experience no
closeness and unity to other churches in our circuit.
b. Disagreement—The English District Board of Directors
has expressed its support of Dr. Tietjen, ELIM, and Seminex.
We the members of First Lutheran Church do not support their
actions: and
WHEREAS, This congregation can no longer find peace and
Joy in the English District: therefore be it
Resolved. That the voting members of First Lutheran Church,
Charlotte, Mich., memorialize The Lutheran Church-— Missouri
Synod in convention in the year of our Lord 1975 to allow them
to peacefully withdraw from the English District and seek
membership in the Michigan District.

To Change Synod's Name
WHEREAS, God in His grace and wisdom has caused our
beloved Lutheran Church— Missouri Synod to flourish across
the width and breadth of this land: and
WHEREAS, This Growth under God has become so wide-
spread as to cause the name Missouri to become an anomaly:
and
WHEREAS, The name Missouri connotes a provincialism that
fails to reflect her nationwide influence and authority: and
WHEREAS, Her border-to-border import tends to be mini-
mized by her name's limited focus: and
WHEREAS, National implications by name have heretofore
been claimed by The American Lutheran Church and The
Lutheran Church in America: therefore be it
Resolved. That The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod
change its name to The Lutheran Church so that its vast work
may be viewed by all in a perspective devoid of localized
implications and more properly conveyed as, under God,
limitless.
